something needs to be done about the talk section

I've been mod for quite a number of boards before. I know how this job works. I can, however, see the hesitation on the part of FreeOnes to give OCSMs the mod-power. What if we went ban-crazy on other OCSMs just because they said they hated how we looked in some outfit, or called our favorite football team stupid? :eek: Someone has to keep us in check, and while some of us OCSMs are capable of handling the power, I don't know if it's the smartest idea to give it to us.

That's not a possibility, which makes me think Rey's suggestion of OCSM mods is a little strange. Being an OCSM wouldn't give anyone extra mod powers. They would still have to go through all the same red tape that the current mods have to go through and they wouldn't be able to keep people from talking shit about an OCSM in the Talk section if they took offence, since that is no longer policy around here. It'd just be giving an OCSM extra responsibility and potentially keep them from reacting to trolls, which I don't think Briana would want to give up.

The talk section is open to everybody. If most of the threads are stupid threads, that's because most ppl are stupid. Ban them and you'll have just a few threads on the talk section, started by the smart ppl. That is still happening today: there are some smart threads in the talk section. Yes you gotta go through many silly threads and avoid them, but the result is the same, in the end. Avoid the silly threads, if you are smart, and they will gradually die. Sammy Fisher might be a troll, but then his threads are filled with answers: why do you need to post "you are stupid"or "you are a troll", if you think you are part of the smart ones? Don't answer, let it die, focus on the smart threads. Cutting the silly threads off is not going to increase the amount of smart threads, but only to diminish the total amount of threads. It takes a second to spot "Is it better a hairy pussy or a pussy hair?" kind of thread and to ignore it.

And I'll be honest, if you want more OCSMs posting here (I assume you do), then put Briana Lee in as a mod for a trial period. I know Roald said that was against the rules. But so what? Suspend that rule and just do it. Hell, every other rule has been broken at least six times in the past month, why not that one too??? It's not like a law that requires an act of Congress. What's the worst that could happen? Just don't let her play with matches and we can forget about why she's no longer allowed to do house sitting in St. Louis. Seriously, give her a shot. And if she fucks up, you can fire her and ban me for making the suggestion. Fair enough?

I don't guess I mentioned it in the previous post. But in another thread I mentioned that the rules that we had before should be brought back. So what I'm saying is, I'd like to see you guys get back the powers that you had before too. I wasn't suggesting any unique powers be given to the two OCSMs that I mentioned - just the same (old) powers that all the mods used to have, enforcing the same (old) rules that we used to have. Having OCSMs as mods would just be a way of adding new voices to the Mod Squad. Believe me, I understand what's happened to the mods here. I feel for you. And personally, I don't understand why people even bother doing it any longer.

It's not a big deal one way or the other. Hopefully no one finds anything here to be life changing. No one is forced to come here. And if we don't like the new direction this place has taken, we can always leave. As I said before, people come... people go. No biggie.
