So, what do you put on your pizza?

Since there's people from all over the world here, I'm curious about what kind of toppings you usually put on your pizza.

Back when I lived in 'murika, I usually just went with a plain cheese pie, since those were cheaper. HOWEVER, when i was feeling festive or if I had a coupon, I would get olives, broccoli, tomatoes, and spinach, or any combination thereof. Some places didn't offer broccoli or spinach.

Now, since toppings aren't extra in Finland, I'm all about Mozzarella, pesto, peppers, and mushrooms. or, if the place doesn't offer Mozzarella, I go with peppers, mushrooms, pineapple, and olives.
You?

knows petras secret: she farted.
when im cheap: plain cheese.

when i get what i really really want: every vegetable you got. the more the better. when i make em at home its tomato, yellow squash, olives, bell pepper, onions, mushroom. covered in the things so that some are still raw underneath. nom nom nom!

my old favourite: sausage and mushroom.

ill occasionally try anchovies now and then. god knows why. very rare.

If it's available and it used to have a face it goes on my pizza.

Plants provide us with clean air, thus I feel it is my duty to the Green Movement to eat as many herbivores as possible.
I'm with you, but I do't like meat on pizza. meat needs to be the star, and it can't be on pizza.

Meat not the star? Sounds like maybe you're just not putting enough meat on your pizza. Can you still see crust and cheese? As far as I'm concerned the crust is mainly just there to convey the toppings to your mouth, and that's the great thing about toppings... there is a near infinite amount of top into which they can be added.

It's like with sandwiches... there's really no practical limit to how much meat you can stuff between that bread.

I'm watching some specialist videos
Pepperoni, Mushroom, Onion, and Jalepeno in addition to the Cheese (mozzarella) and Tomato.

It MUST be on a thin crust. What is with those thick "Deep Pan" pizzas. You end up eating more bread than topping.
The best pizza I ever had was in Pizzeria Lugano in Menaggio on Lake Como in Italy.

Most pizza places here have an 'Aussie' pizza which has egg on it. Not as bad as it sounds but I can't recall the last time I had one of those. Normally I go for stuff like kalamata olives, sundried tomato, roasted pepper, mushroom, spring onion, chicken, cheese and maybe some basil or oregano. If I want to spice it up I add some chili or paprika. I've had a pizza with roasted eggplant and artichoke before, it was surprisingly good.

People always put waaaay too many toppings on a pizza! Original Italian pizza has a max of three toppings! A pizza has to be thin and not have a two inch thick topping overload! :nono:

I'll either put Salami on it (together with the tomato sauce and mozzarella)

or when I'm feeling festive: after the tomato sauce I'll have rocket salad, parma ham and Parma shavings on top! :yummie:

I ordered a couple of Pizza Hut $10 five topping large pizzas the other day and got a hand tossed pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham, mushrooms, and onions for myself and a deep dish pineapple, sausage, ham, onions and mushrooms for my lady. I like pizza and have tried all sorts of combinations of crusts and toppings. As long as everything is fresh and properly cooked it's hard to make a bad pizza.

You couldn't pay me to eat at Pizza Hut. i made that mistake once, never again. I'd rather eat Domino's, and that's saying something. local places always make better pies.

I like a little bit of Jaana on mine!

OK, back to the real world. If I am getting one from someplace else, I usually get pepperoni. However, if I am making it myself, it is usually a turkey pepperoni, some chicken, some onion, some sliced tomato, some sliced pepper, topped with a little bit of pepper, olive oil and sea salt.

Give me Hawaiian with pesto sauce instead of tomato sauce. Bonus points if it's straight out of the fridge. :drool2:

My rule of thumb is if it took a shit when it was alive it goes on my pizza. :)

you know what's bullshit though?

"white sauce." bullshit.

:pukey: Who likes man-spackle on their pizza?

I actually do a mean home made pie with spinach, moz, sun-dried tomatoes and arugula. So, it's like having me in my pizza because it's made with my love.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. One thing that's absolutely essential to pizza is a mountain of parmesan cheese on top. Seriously, if I can still see any of the mozzarella or any of the toppings it doesn't have enough parmesan. Because of that I get a lot of stares at pizzerias. :)
