so long Brett Favre

I think it's a sad day for the NFL , because he was such a great competitor and a great guy . It would have been nice to see him win the superbowl this year .

Here's to a terrific quarterback. It's something special just that he was on the same team for so long in this day and age. He was the Green Bay Packers. Never a big fan of his, I have to admire his guts.

He has a career passer rating of 85.6. That's nothing amazing, just good. But you throw in (pardon the pun) his incredible durability and I'd vote for him for the hall.

Nothing left to prove. Few milestones left to reach. I applaud his decision and career. :2 cents:

The ability to avoid injury and start so many games in a row...that's the impressive thing to me. I'm not a great fan of his. He's not the greatest ever. He didn't win enough Rings to be in that discussion. He piled up a ton of stats, basically. He is the Lou Gehrig of the NFL..I'll give him that credit.

But to heap a little salt on this thread....remember a couple of years ago when Brett complained that it wasn't his job to "help prepare" Aaron Rodgers...that Aaron had to just stand there and hold the clipboard? Gee. Nice teammate.:thefinger

I just saw a highlight of Brett crying at his press conference....:bawling: Geez, dude. You've been floating retirement speculation for years...and YOU'RE GOING OUT ON YOUR OWN TERMS!!! I thought tears were reserved for those that left the sport due to career-ending injury...:dunno:

Brett...Brett...Brett....:1orglaugh

Brett isn't the best ever, but the number of rings somebody has is a poor evaluation of skill or a player’s greatness. How good he is ranked all time depends on how much more people value peak all time great years to years of good longevity and above average to great performance for a long time. I would say Favre is somewhere around the top 10.

Did anybody else think it was ironic that one of the few times Aaron Rodgers had to go in for Favre he almost immediately broke his foot and Favre had to come back in even though he was just hurt himself. :1orglaugh

I think I might title this...

It's all about the rings people....Favre didn't win enough of them. Bottomline.

And I do think it's fine to goof on him for crying. He's leaving on his own terms. He's leaving a team on the upswing, so the decision seems more like he's crying because Randy Moss turned his back on Green Bay, moreso than anything else..:1orglaugh

Favre will be back the second week of August....TO crying for "Romo" kind of ruins "crying" by pro athletes at the moment for me...:dunno:
