small rant about hummers. and the people who drive them.

knows petras secret: she farted.
seriously people, wtf!

i see all these people driving around in these ridiculous things. all over the place! what the fuck? do you realize that these things get 10 miles to the gallon? how irresponsible, how selfish can you be?

in times like these, these should not even be an option to people. we are in the middle of a big fucking problem regarding gas, oil, pollution, and global warming. are these vehicles made by oil companies or something? are they oblivious? do they not care? do they think its fake? lies? bullshit?

thank god we have the option to drive what we want but it doesnt mean you have to be total asshole about it. for every 3 higher gas millage car out there, it cancels them out. think about it. its like driving 3 or 4 cars at once!

hummers are vanity vehicles and nothing more. is it really appropriate in these times? why arent these regulated?

its just a slap in the face of the people driving the 30-40 and up mile per gallon cars. wheres the common sense? where the personal responsibility?

I used to own a hummer for few months.
I had a few cars and all of them had big engines and a high consumption? (I hope its the right word)
But dont worry. I lost everything so I dont have my cars anymore :( :crying:

I am in America, not of it.
Well maybe they are vanity transportation, perhaps no worse than the important persons too good to fly commercial. Must have private jets. I agree with you. I never could see the purpose for them unless you lived on top of a mountain or something like that. I always liked small cars, sports cars when I was young and compact cars now that I am older. $3.00 per gallon gas has just added to the desire to drive small. I do collect cars but even they are 6 cylinder mid size cars that get a limited use in summer. There are a few folks,(farmers, business owners, etc) who need a good size pickup or even a flatbead or box van but most of us could get by quite well with a intermediate or compact car.

Some people with money, just don't care. Me personally, I wouldn't mind driving around in an H1 (and only an H1), just as long as the gas wasn't my responsibility. ;)

i like seeing them when i walk down the street :(

Eh, my Bronco only gets 16 MPG. I hate the fact that it goes through gas like nothing, but I need something like it because of the amount of snow we get in New England.

They like to flaunt their wealth. Instead of saving some money. A lot of them have more money than they need and instead of helping out their employees by giving them a raise, they buy another toy.

Greed...:(

Employees and consumers....:nannerf2:

These people don't give a fuck. They can obviously afford the gas, so if they have to pay a little or even a lot more they don't care. It's you and I that suffer for it. And the thing is... it's their right.

My jeep only gets 16 mpg, but I would love to find a more economical 4x4 that can still get me to work before the roads get plowed, I just haven't been able to yet. Sometimes I have to drive through a foot of snow and that's just the way it is.
As for your rant, I don't see the difference between driving a Hummer and the countless millions of Americans driving 3500 duallies around all day with nothing in them.

How about when gas prices go up and they're interviewed for the media, bitching about how much it costs for them to fill up the tank?:thefinger

Eh, my Bronco only gets 16 MPG.....

16 MPG??? Is that truly really appropriate in these times??? Why aren't you being regulated??? We need to regulate you!!! Get yourself regulated!! Consider this a regulation......Oh wait, my Passport only gets like 15 MGP.
How come I haven't been regulated????????? I NEED to be appropriated in these times!!!

sorry, had to do it....

Jeep Patriot (over 30mpg in 4x4, 25mpg in Rubicon-rated w/19:1)

Jeep Patriot, just became available in March 2007.
As such, unlike other 2007 vehicles released in 2006, it has the "new and realistic" EPA mileage tests.

Around 150 horsepower/torque in a 2.4L, 4-cylinder engine.
Significantly more cargo capacity than "small SUVs" like the Honda CRV and others.
Far better gas mileage than the Honda CRV (24/27 "old" rating) let alone others.

- 5-speed manual 4x2, 33mpg reported (27/30mpg new rating)
- Continuously Variable (CVT) 4x4, over 30mpg (25/29mpg new rating)
- Rubicon Trail-rated CVT2 4x4 w/19:1 and oversized equip, around 25mpg (21/23 new rating)

The last is rated to tred 19" without any tailpipe change (the Wrangler is 20"), has a 19:1 gear ratio (the Wrangler does have a 38:1), etc...
The CVT really helps it get the same gas mileage as a manual transmission, all while letting you "slam it" at over 6,000rpm continuously when you need the torque.

The Rubicon rated version starts at only $20K, the manuals at $15K.

Actually, I know a lot of people -- a great majority -- who make far less than I, but they spend 3-4x much on their car, house, etc... than I or my wife (sometimes even combined!).

Understand that if you make $50,000, you pay about $5K in income tax.
If you make $100,000, that quickly increases to $20K.
If you make $150,000, it's over $50K.

It's our progressive tax system at work.

When you add in various withdrawls from your paycheck, a person making $120K can easily bring home less than $60K.

Don't be sorry, I will pay higher taxes to regulate you,you damn dirty ape!

I want to drive a hummer because I've always wanted to drive a tank, and it's close enough to satisfy that lust of mine.

Also, when I beg my girlfriend that I want to get a hummer, once we're married I can switch to saying I want an AMC Gremlin, and then by comparison the Gremlin will seem so mild she'll say yes.

Wait till I can afford a $400, 000 Maybach 62S, which probably gets less than 10MPH. I am nature friendly, but I am not going to value nature over this sweet monster (the 62S is delicious). :)

Besides, when you can afford a $400, 000 car, you don't have to worry about paying for gas. Meh. No big deal.

I don't care what someone's personal vehicle m.p.g. is. The faster the World gets rid of it's oil, the faster they will have to find something - hopefully - far better.

As for the emissions that vehicle puts out? That's a different story. That IS selfish.
The former is just using up gas. The latter actually physically hurts everyone to a small degree.

I thought you would be the last person to rant about hummers, and then I read the rest of the thread's title and realized you were talking about the vehicle.
