Should we colonize other planets?

I think if humanity is to survive as a species, it will have to find a new home eventually, so YES, we should.

The way the global population is increasing those "small pockets" of undeveloped land won't be enough to offset population growth and shrinking resources.

Like Mega said, it's inevetible.

There is far more rural land on earth than developed land, though. Nobody ever seems to realize that.

Well,we will eventually have to find another place to live other than Earth,due to the fact that when the Sun burns out,it will first expands to engulf every planet from it to Mars,thus Earth nor Mars will no longer exist.Now of course,by the time that happens,and asteroid will probably hit,causing another extinction event.

We will have to find a way to travel to another solar system at some point.

My personal belief is that light speed travel,or faster,is an impossibility due to the fact that matter expands the faster that is accelerates,thus in order to travel the speed of light,you have to become light.Once your,or whatever craft you are in become light,then there is no reforming that matter back to it's original state.

So in essence,we are all eventually doomed for this plane of existence,but who knows what lies behind the door to the next one.

Live life for what it is now,because depending on what you believe,like T-Bird said in The Crow,"There ain't no comin' back".
