Should we colonize other planets?

Seeing how our space program sucks hobo balls, and as a culture we place more value on sports programs and stupid musical television contests than scientific endeavors and education, good luck on establishing anything on a planet in the future.

Damn right we should. This place is too crowded.

What if we are a colony?

Even more food for thought...Like the US you think they would eventually secede creating their own independent planet.

If we could, we already would have.

Damn right we should. This place is too crowded.

Only certain places have large populations. There's a lot of undeveloped land still available.

I think before we waste money on terraforming Mars etc...

Lets develop habitats on the sea ground

WAY cheaper :2 cents:

The oceans should have been explored much more than they have been by now.

To the point of your question, interstellar colonization is inevitable.:2 cents:

The way the global population is increasing those "small pockets" of undeveloped land won't be enough to offset population growth and shrinking resources.

Like Mega said, it's inevetible.

Well the chinese are on about weaponizing space. Well there was some propaganda pieces in western media to that effect. Probably just to cause a **** ****** and renew interest. I hope it does it will give the european space agency and NASA a good kick in the craggers. Another space race can only improve the technology all around.

I doubt it. Stop listening to Mega.

:D Ha!

He has a point though. The technology has to improve, but it will happen. Maybe/probably not in our lifetimes, but eventually.

There is no question that we should, the only question is;

Will we survive long enough to develop the technology to allow us the opprotunity?

What do you care if it happens after you're dead? :1orglaugh

We do need a missile defense system.

I'm interested in anything to do with Space, Physics or science in general.

But as to missile defense sysyems, the technology for those sometimes goes hand in hand with space exploration.

Space exploration will benefit mankind.....A missile defence system will only restart nuclear proliferation....How you think they will negate your defence, by building so many there would be no way you could swat them all down. So in a way a defence system is impractical. Even in the cases of rogue states which don't have many viable weapons that could reach the United States.

They would be insane to use them as you could obliterate them whereas they might just cause you incredible casualties. Those same rogue states only have them to protect themselves from Uncle Sam, it's there only insurance policy from invasion.

Only a moronic republican with no ability to reason and knows fuck all about international affairs or history would enact such a program....If your going to mention a past capable president don't bother. It was more of a bluff as I was rightly educated in another post to bankrupt the USSR.

PS>Another way I could think of the top of my evil wee head is.....Cluster nuke....Already miniaturised I assume due to tactical nukes. Smaller boyos intended for use against large armoured columns....A missile with a multi faceted warhead of these babies that splits up in the air.....Oh ****.

No. That will lead to Blade Runner.
