Should The Simpsons end?

Well the title says it all. What do you guys think? I personally think it should have ended around season 10 and I feel it peaked shortly after Conan O'Brien left as writer/director. Family Guy has got nothing on the series during these seasons but I've tried to watch new ones but they're too embarassing to watch as they are nowhere near funny. What's your take?

Some of my favorite episodes:
Marge vs the Monorail
almost all Treehouse of Horrors
Itchy and Scratchy Land
Homie the Clown
Flaming Moes
Homer's Barbershop Quartet
Who Shot Mr. Burns?

Yes They should have ended the show a long time ago now its just the same thing over and over again..

I would much rather watch South Park or Family guy

The new episode this past Sunday was interesting.

It might end in two years.

Any more predictions?

I think it's still pretty good, anyone see the episode where Homer and Flanders are bounty hunters? That was hilarious.

I don't think it's all that bad. I might concede that not-so-funny episodes are becoming more frequent, but I still think it's better than most of the crap on tv, and because everybody loves comparing it to family guy I'll say that I think that show is running out of steam a lot faster than the simpsons.

I admit I haven't watched it in years, even though I consider myself a big fan (own the first few seasons on DVD).

It seems like they had such a high quality show it would be very difficult to maintain that for such a long time as the show has lasted.

I can't say for sure if it should end.

One thing that I've noticed is that Homer has lost his complex qualities and he seems to mostly be promoted as just a dumb guy - nothing more...

I havent watched it avidly like I used to since about season 9, what is it now season 20, or somthing?

It just hasnt got that edge that it use to have. Some people say its because I'm getting older that I dont find it funny anymore, but when I look back on the old episodes I still laugh, so what happened? The writing has increasingly gotten worse over the last few years and they cant tell good simplistic funny stories anymore. I'm sure most Simpsons fans can list those old writters off by heart, the ones who made the show what it was. But the new generation arent doing that.

I saw an episode a few weeks ago in which Homer and Marge were supposed to be in college in the early 90s grunge era, and I thought to myself what the fuck is this shit!?! Personally after the terrible movie they should have ended it, there was no where else to go from there.

But it still makes money so why stop now, I guess is the producers and networks mind set.

I think it's still alright. I think at one point somebody must have come up with the whole went downhill after season 9 thing on the Internet and everybody hoped on the bandwagon without actually thinking about it.

Yes that was me actually.

:dunno:

Everyone is jumping on my badwagon.......

It does really seem now like they're just making an attempt to be the show that has been on the air the longest, rather than committing to honestly good stuff. I've got a friend who is a Simpsons nut, and when he watched the latest of them at work the other night, we were both kind of thinking "meh".

It was just very bland and dull.

Good run, but the idea well is probably dried up.

Of course it shouldnt end! Simpsons currently are better then Family guy and I watch both. some of the current simpsons episodes are getting good again. Family guy has a few brilliant moments but the rest of the show is kind of crap. Like the current episode where they put in like 5 minutes of "conway twitter" singing. WTF i was wondering when it would end. The simpsons are still very entertaining.

Shows that raise the bar are doomed to fail simply because they cant consistently hit their own high mark. The expectations are too high. Hell, after 20 something years people just want it to GTFO, anyway. That's an extra hour we could be watching Futurama or Family Guy. Simpsons still gives me a random chuckle or three during an episode, but the idea well is completely dry and the characters havent aged at all. Bart should be 30 with children. The characters should age WITH the show. Bah.

Family Guy makes me laugh my ass off, but it's all so very current.. in 10 years I wont know any of the jokes. A joke where you have to jog your memory to pinpoint who Terri Schiavo is.. or why they're playing Rick Astley songs.. it wont be funny. But for this moment in time it's completely relevant.

I'm not even a big fan of Family Guy. It has some of the laziest writing ever! Have you ever watched an episode without the unnecessary references, i.e Conway Twitty? An episode is really only like 12-15 minutes long. I still watch it though because I do enjoy offensive humor just not repetitive, ongoing jokes which really irritates me about FG.

With Simpsons, I wish Fox would show the older episodes when they do re-runs so people would realize what I would call a lack of quality in current episodes

I think even though they do it on occasions is that from now on they should make the characters age might change storylines...who knows in a few years deal with Lisa getting pregnant at like 13 lol and Bart going to juvi lol and Homer actually losing the 2 hair he has been holding onto for years lol

the simpsons have made fun of everything and everyone, and thus there new shows are stupid and boring because there is nothing else they can do
