What exactly is your interest in this. Why should only women in the porn industry who were abused as children be the focus of your interest as opposed to the kids out there who are being abused as children.

If you wanna help, help the ones who need it most, the ones who are suffering it and leave the ones who have been through to write a book about it or get therapy.

well said you sir been rep.

i agree the women in porn made a choice . what about all the poor kids who dont have that option.

i feel sad and angry if that is true about the pornstars being sexually abused as a kid but they went on to make something of themselfs . many boys and girls wont get that chance

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
Its not a stretch for me to believe that some women in the porn business were sexually abused at some point in their lives. But 80% abused as children...that seems like a made up figure by someone who's against porn!

But still, 80%, that is alot. If that number is indeed true (IS IT?), then there has got to be a correlation between girls being sexually abused as children, and women working in porn.
Looks like we´re gonna have to do some research on this subject.

Hmmmm. One of the videos on Crissy Moran´s myspace actually says 90%.

I just realized that "The sex industry" includes prostitution. I don´t know, but you guys probably already thought of that.

I just realized that "The sex industry" includes prostitution. I don´t know, but you guys probably already thought of that.

It also includes any number of other occupations -- strippers, peep show girls, etc.. I doubt the 80% figure is correct, but even if it is, it's only indirectly suggestive of the correlation between childhood sexual abuse and careers in porn. I'm certain there's a correlation, but I'm not sure how high it is. If it's a relatively small correlation, then I'd say this is a non-issue. However...

You're missing the point. Plausibly, sexual abuse victims choose to do porn as an ineffective alternative to therapy. Plausibly, the availability of work in the porn industry discourages them from getting real help. If so, then people who purchase porn -- and who thereby provide the funds that enable the industry to hire more sexual abuse victims and discourage them from getting real help -- are doing harm. IF these premises are true, then people who say that porn is immoral are in some sense right.

An interesting wrinkle here, though, is that people who consume porn without paying for it are (again, assuming the premises are true) actually doing good by reducing the profits of the porn industry and making it more difficult for them to hire more sexual abuse victims.

Arguably, also, people who specifically only buy porn made by people who haven't been abused are also doing good by discouraging the industry from hiring sexual abuse victims. (This makes me a good guy BTW, because the only porn I pay for is with IsobelWren in it:).) The problem with that argument, though, is that it may be impossible to tell who has been sexually abused, when many people (how many exactly is controversial) have repressed memories of sexual abuse.

Good point, whatshisname.

I have been Googling around a bit, but I have been unable to find anything that supports the claim that 80 (or 90) % of sex workers were sexually abused as children.

I have also been unable to find any evidence to the contrary.

The "iamatreasure.org" address doesn´t work, and the "projectnightlight.org" site has no information on this subject that I have found.

Anyway, I´d be suprised to find that any of our favourite porn stars have been forced into their profession by "nature".

What is this figure based on? Where & when were the interviews/polls taken?

1. American pornstar or pornstars worldwide? (the amount of pornstars taking overdoses is also much higher in the US than in EU)
2. Did they go to the AA or the local drug rehab? If so, the chances of girls saying that they were abused is a lot higher than when you ask girls who are more stable. (mostly because it might be the reason these girls are unstable to begin with, which is very sad, but nothing I can do anything about).
3. What do the ones collecting the figures consider sexual abuse? Could it be that they counted teenagers who'se butts were pinched as teenagers without them wanting it as well? (Ok, I'm stretching it, but so could the people collecting the figures)

I could go on for a while, but these 3 questions are enough to begin with...

Just believe me when I say that one can easily mess with figures just to achieve the goal he/she wants.

Conspiracy...
Where and how did they come up with this statistic?

I find it hard to believe. Many females have been on Howard Stern and other programs and said they weren't abused.

So, I believe someone is making this up.

That's all we need more fear-mongering and someone else trying to take more freedoms away.

Some people need better things to do with their lives.

I think we are all misinterpreting the real motive behind the poster.

For example project night life is not focused on abused women in the sex industry.... they are focused on helping out abused children. The iamatreasure website has sited instances in which the have helped out women in the sex industry but no where is it mentioned that it helps out women in the sex industry only.

Probably the poster is trying to motivate porn fans into making donations to the organizations.... which is good because, women and children (and even men) who have been abused need help regardless of weather they belong to the sex industry or not.

I don't have a really motivation behind my post. My aim was just to let you know what I found on Crissy Moran's site and to discus about this and bring a few to think about it. And I was hoping someone perhaps could some stats or reports about. That's all. I do not do advertisement for the websites on the picture.

But I think the sex industry (which contains for example prostitution as well) has more dark sites than the most other businesses. So perhaps we as consumer have to watch out more what we are consuming.

And to the thing about the sex workers which say, that they were not abused... I think, the most won't say that they were abused if it's so.

This could be an interesting site:

www.global-sisterhood-network.org/content/view/1783/76/

I don't want to convert someone, I mean I'm a porn consumer too, but with what you are doing or not doing, you can make the world a better or a poorer one.
I know it sounds very green. :)

Ummm....Crissy Moran>>>Crissy Moran....Yep. She found Jezbus and now is against porn.:1orglaugh
