search with new format

How do you use the new search format

example, you check all posts, you type in tory lane, one week and newer, and it pulls up a bunch of useless posts
The old search engine, in the old format, pulled up the request correctly

How do search with new format?

Thanks for the help, but still not working. I have used the old Freeones search for a while, and am pretty familiar with the search results when looking, for example, something about Tory Lane from the past week. Using your example, it returns 5 pages, when it should only be one page of results. See attached.

Thank you for the help

Any luck with the repairs to the broken search function, again, you can use my Tory Lane search example, and you will see what I mean.

Try searching for only titles with tory lane instead of all posts (to the right of keywords) otherwise you're going to get every mention of her in every thread vs. threads just about her.

Petra,

I think you now have thankfully inadvertently put into words the root problem with the new search format compared to how it worked before the change. When you would search for Tory Lane (our example here) with the old search feature, using the settings one week or newer (or last visit, 2 weeks ect) it returned results where she is mentioned in a thread, within that time frame, even if she is not in the title of the thread, example you may find Tory Lane mentioned, within the specified time frame, in a thread that started with a title like “best facial”, (popular threads here at freeones).

I hope that makes sense, but that is the problem with the new search feature.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to fix this. vBulletin considers this "as intended" so you and everyone else will just have to get used to the new search.

I'd love to modify the search and make it do what WE want it to do, but I think Raymond would run out of the building screaming since it involves reprogramming this software from bottom up. I will keep an eye out and see if anyone puts out any plugins for vbulletin that will make it act more like the old version.

Gotta say, I don't like the new search engine at all. I know it's not the mods' fault for this but it's impossible to find anything. I just wanted to post a link for Asians and when I searched for the appropriate thread, it just pulls up some random order for results. first result was one that was last posted in 2007, the next one was 2011, then 2009. What!?!
