I thought the Colts would win, but wow did the Saints play one hell of a good game. In fact, for the most part, I thought it was a very well played game - few officiating errors, few penalties, few turnovers, and a couple of really gutsy plays that ended up working out quite well for the Saints (I mean, who calls for an onside kick that early in the game?).

They won because they played better than the Colts, plain and simple. With all the Peyton Manning nut holding that's been going on this past week,I was absolutely certain that the Saints would win.It seems that whenever one team is an overwhelming favorite, they choke.I think that all of the so called "experts" severely underrated the Saint.

Wow!!!!

Congratulations and well-deserved! Great game to watch too!

The New Orleans Saints are world champions!! Bourbon Street must be rockin' tonight!!!

i thought it was a great game and i enjoyed watching it. :)

one of these days i'll watch it with an American and he or she can explain what the hell is going on. ;)

question:

does it not seem odd for a team to call itself "world champions" in a sporting event "NLF's superbowl" that is only played by teams from one nation: America. :2 cents:

Yeah it does actually. However, football at least has an excuse for still calling the winner of the Super Bowl the World Champions, unlike baseball which has seemed to drift over to the Asian countries and basketball where the Europeans are catching up to us. No one else plays football and from my understanding thinks that it is a ridiculous sport, though I have no idea why.

god for the saints they need that win even know i was going for the colts

I wonder how long before the conspiracy theories that Peyton threw the game for his hometown come rolling in.

That was some very un-Peyton like crappy clock management at the end.

Plus...it would let Peyton get back at his coach for not letting him try for the perfect season.

Its possible that the 2 best teams of the last 12 years didnt even win the Super Bowl. That Vikings team and of course the 2007 Patriots.

Good observation. If I remember correctly Morton Anderson didn't miss ONE field goal that season. Not one. Then to go to the superbowl he pulled it wide and they lost to those crummy Falcons.

Well, we play football, but in a way its an entirely different sport that values speed over size. The Aussies also have a football of their own, but I have no idea what the hell that game is about.

The last sentence is the excuse. No one else plays it nor has any interest in playing it. From my stand point and many of my countrymen, the title of best in the world can be applied. Its kinda the same way we on earth run the Mr. Universe tournament. Since we are the only ones that we know of in the universe, to us, the winner of this tournament is the best in the universe. I hope you get what i am saying, rather than me just sitting here rambling on.

Yeah, fuck you. And fuck everyone else that rooted for the Saints. Fuck their fans. Fuck their coach. Fuck their dumb shit owner. Fuck the French Quarter. Fuck the city of New Orleans. They don't get to mention the fucking hurricane ever again in reference to deserving anything. That's it, they're done. You have your fucking title now. May you never win one again. And I never want to hear the name Katrina in my life. You've had 5 fucking years to get over it. Move on!

I'm fucking angry, disappointed, and shocked all at the same time. Indy was outplayed and out-coached. It's really that simple. Brees performed better than Manning, and Payton had his team more well prepared than Caldwell. The game boils down to that. Payton's decision to try an onside kick was the turning point of the game. I never expected this outcome. Regardless of how they performed during the rest of the season, Indy was not the better team in this game.

This one is going to sting for a very long time. Congratulations to Drew Brees. I truly am happy for him. As great a QB as he is, he's a better human being ten times over. He's given so much back to Purdue and the city of New Orleans. The same kid I watched play 30 college games is now a Super Bowl champion and MVP. That's cool as fuck. He deserves all the accolades and awards he receives.

:1orglaugh
as a Cubs fan, you should be used to this one "better luck next year"

But seriously, I, along with most others, thought Manning would be too much and the Colts would win handily! to see it end on that Pick 6 was shocking! And not that I am complaining, ( I was rooting for the Saints) but was that a block in the back on Manning as Porter ran by?!

Like they say. . . That's why they play the game!
