I use Opera for a few sites, Chrome for some and FireFox for the rest.

Opera: It's minimal, so therefore it does the job better.

Chrome: Not the best choice for browsers, but it's getting there... Slowly.

FireFox: My main browser, but ideally I would be three to five builds back. Because 2011 has seen Mozilla **** on themselves with the current way the browser is going, but it's good for the add-on's which ultimately slow it down and cause crashes from time to time.

I have NEVER had a problem with Firefox and I use it constantly. I like all the add-ins it has available so much better than IE. I used Opera before and it's ok but I still prefer Firefox. However, this is just an observation. I have noticed that Windows computers and their apps slow down over time. And the only solution is to wipe it clean and do a fresh install. I don't have this issue with my Mac

perhaps yes; i use the FF add-ons very sparingly; last point : perhaps, but this should be less so with Windows 7 ?
 
the web browser i enjoy using the most on Windows is Opera 11.5
speed dial is net and for those with a slow connection turbo helps out
not to mention the speed and layout is nice and it seems to be fairly secure.
if i am running linux Ubuntu or Linux Mint then i use Firefox.
when i was trying out different browsers on Windows it really amazed me at all the extra advertising that popped up when i switched to IE9.

good points/ yep, the Opera 11 interface/layout is just wonderful :cool: yep, switch to ie and i am inundated with adverts -- and don't mention add-ons please :facepalm:
 
....actually , am now using Chrome too in a 3rd window -- and it is nice and minimal :cool: perhaps I was too harsh on it ...naughty busen :nono:! lol ;)

lots of extensions too -- and the adblock plus works as well as it does in FF :cool:

ShayD probably knows the technical reason for this. But the shop that's been working on my on my WinTel boxes for years describes it as "Microsoft Bloat"... like it's a disease or something. Depending on how much surfing you do on a given machine, over time, it's like a person who eats fatty foods and eventually their arteries get build-up. Pretty neat description, I thought. And yeah, the only "cure" is to wipe the damn things down periodically. :facepalm:

Anyway, I stopped using IE about two years ago... and I think my ***** pressure went down about that time too. I alternate between Safari and Firefox now. I like them both. But FireFox has many more features. Though Safari (until this last upgrade) seemed to be faster. I've heard good things about Opera. Maybe I'll try it too.

I try to restrict online banking, brokerage, etc. to one computer and general surfing to another. But security, viruses and malware really concern me on all of them. So whatever browser I use, security is a KEY element. With the recent updates, I need to see which ones are ranked highest now. But speed means less to me than security. And some of these off brand "hobby" browsers just seem like things that I wouldn't want to fool with. Much like Android phones, they may have some neat features. But the "open" platforms sometimes invite bad people who enjoy doing bad things.

basically it is a browser which has the ability to run as the top 3 browsers (ie, firefox, chrome)...you just click a button to switch between the 3...i haven't tried it but it sounds...interesting

nah, that doesn't sound any good for me. IE is completly useless. FF is what im looking to finally switch from, and you know how i feel about chrome.

its an interesting concept i suppose, but with all that data smashed in it, i would figure it would run pretty slow. but whats the point of having IE as an option? besides windows updates, that is.
