? why not if they make a nice post?
There is a constant pool of ca. 20 - 30 people who are capable of making a good post on here. I also like to give to give to people who make a challenging ID or posters who have said something nice to me personally, which adds up to at least 15 posts a day (EVERY day). Why restrict it to five?

what matters more to you? getting rep from your people or getting rep for a quality post?
... What C_A said... I like to give. When I receive, I mostly wonder why my shitty posts have gotten repped.

We're not trying to **** off the message board, and eventually you will be able to rep more times per day than you can now. It's just not going to happen today, and probably not tomorrow either. Maybe in the next few weeks though since I might have found some fixes for the problems, but the programmer still needs to take a look and see if the mods to the rep system are actually usable.

The decision to tie in the rep points to freeones points was not my own so I have no control over that aspect of what has happened (but, you can keep using me as the whipping girl since I do love pain). What aspect I do have control over is balancing the system and finding out what works. I've learned through some hard trial and error that sometimes you have to ***** a problem, then slowly ease up. It's much easier than doing it the other way around then trying to clean up a huge mess.

As to the number of people you have to rep before you can rep someone again, I only increased that number by 5. If the mods I found can be applied, I'm probably going to put that number back to where it was, though that's not set in stone.

And as to these mods I keep mentioning, one of them will require people to actually leave a comment so their positive rep counts. If they don't, they use up a rep click and the rep is neutral and doesn't count towards anything. The other mod actually would allow us to make it so that rep given in a certain forum or thread is not counted.

Be patient, it'll slowly get better!

So, why only five again? I mean, this whole thing is a pain in the ass. Why do I have to wait days and days and days after the fact to rep a person for making a great post? Users that come here and make great posts, deserve rep, and regular users should have the power to rep them.
This is really trying my patience.

Regular and non-regular users should only have the power to do whatever the Administrators of this board allow them to do. Your ability to rep someone more than 5 times is not a right. The rep system is a tool provided to the members. Decisions on the best use of that tool will be made by Administration, taking into consideration what's best for the overall functioning and atmosphere of the board.

You have to wait 5 days because, at the moment, that's the ideal time it's been decided that members wait. If you really feel that strongly about commenting on a great post by other members and you can't rep them, send them a PM.

Sorry for your loss of patience, but you're getting bent out of shape over nothing. Especially because if your greatest need for the rep system is to comment on great posts by other members, you have other options to accomplish that.

This "conversation" is really amusing :****:

If I can just play the stupid newbie for a moment, to the left you will see my rep power is zero. What is it and how do I make it go up? Thanks (and reps of course) for any help.......

Your rep will stay at zero until you make a certain amount of posts. I'm not sure the exact number, but it seems to be around 100. You get rep by making good posts. Funny, thoughtful, clever, whatever you're good at. When another member appreciates your post, they can give you rep points. Little by little your rep level will go up. It's supposed to signify how good of a poster you are, but people ***** it by repping each other for no reason at all, so it really doesn't have that much of a meaning. It will earn you bonus points in your MyFreeones account though. Check this other post of mine, where I answered some more questions and gave some more details about this. If you have any other questions, you can PM me or one of the mods.

Here ya go, my post on this thread should also answer some questions:
