Excessive consumption of ******* is having a massive negative impact on society in general. This has been made worse by supermarkets and off licenses selling dirt cheap ******* (a can will often be cheaper than a bottle of water) and clubs opening till the early hours of the morning as well as new clubs opening in quiet residential areas (here in the UK anyway) whereas formerly people would've had to travel to the city to go out and get hammered.
