I've gotten it 4 times if the ones that are blackish are bad rep.

No the gray/blackish is from noobs or those that just have no rep power who want to say good post or bad or are just repping for no reason like many do in the rep the person above you thread, just to rep. They have no rep power to give points so its gray. You get nothing for their rep, most don't even realize. Bad rep is RED, unless like said above given by someone with no power then only the comment will tell good or bad.
