Pound for Pound (what is the best food???????)

I think Rahmen noodles are the best ever at .12c a pop. Regular noodles are good too. Go to the dollar store and get them reasonably priced.

What do you guys think is the best "cheap" food?

i think potato is the cheapest or flour...those are the basic meal for the world.... rice too.But the best in mouth or healty i will say cans of tuna. 1$ and it as lots of protein.

Ramen noodles taste great. Because they're packed full of saturated fat and salt. Anything will taste great if it's mostly lard and sodium. Blech.

Best cheap food? The cheapest family sized meal you can find mixed with a few slices of 12 grain bread to offset the fat. A big cup of tea to sate the thirst from the salt.

That's my cheap cousine. :)

mac 'n cheese, spaghetti-O's is always a favorite.

Tuna for me definitely. Sometimes on sale you can do better than 50 cents a can.

Nutrition-wise it's hard to top breakfast cereal and milk in regards to cost. Cereal has increased in price--as has milk--but the two combined could net you several meals worth for about $5 if you buy off-brand.
Dinnertime meals? Hamburger Helper Beef Stroganoff is delicious, but high in salt, at about $5 with ground beef. Provides two or three meals for one. Also, instant rice combined with lower-cost fresh veggies--i.e. celery baby carrots, onions--and a small can of chicken breast can make a nice, healthy and satisfying meal that could last a few days for one at about $5 or $6.

ninetysixcavy - I agree with you on the ramen noodles for being both cheap and good. I get 'em for 16c ea (not 12c) tho so either I'm eatin "high class" ramen or getting totally ripped off by my local grocer (heads will roll I tells ya, heads will roll).

In my book, it's Italian and deer. I have no Italian in me, but I've never tasted any nationality's food better than Italian. Best in the world IMO. But as for domestic, deer can't be beat. It's healthy, better than beef and the way my family makes it.......I'm making myself hungry as I type this.
