Wrestlemania was the bomb tonight. There were two well deserved title changes and the Undertaker (13-0)vs. Randy Orton match was awesome. The sumo match was pretty decent, it was better than Lesner vs. Goldberg last year. Hulk Hogan coming out and beating up Hassan was a classic Wrestlemania moment. It's gonna be pretty interesting to see what Edge does with his promise title shot. I thought it was great seeing Trish Stratus beat up Christy Hemme. Nothing against Christy but she really didn't have chance. Can't wait for the aftermath on Raw and Smackdown.

I give Wrestlemania 6/10...for God's sake its wrestlemania, its suppose to be the best show of the year, and i dont think it lived up to those standards

I curently dont have time, but i will give my match rundown and thoughts on last nights PPV later today

The Six-Man Money in the Bank Ladder match and Angle vs. HBK rocked! :banger: Everything else was decent enough. The sumo match was...interesting and Trish vs. Christy, well there can never be enough Trish in my book :nanner: . Even if I had to endure Christy's awful wrestling. The only things that really disappointed me were the title matches. Triple H's wrestling has gotten slow and extremely boring  . Cena, Batista and JBL are all not the best workers either. At least Cena and Batista have charisma going for them. Hopefully we can get a break from Triple H for a bit but not likely (it will be a Batista/Triple H rematch for Backlash).

SmackDown! Match: Rey Misterio pinned Eddie Guerrero (12:00)
Good match. Anyone who harps on the one botched spot in a match with guys of this caliber working the kinds of spots they use should just stop watching. I was hype for the match. The live crowd seemed to be into Eddie. I was thinking Eddie would cheat to win without turning and have to explain his actions to Rey on SmackDown.

(RAW) Money in the Bank (Ladder) Match: Edge defeated Shelton Benjamin, Edge, Christian, Chris Jericho, and Kane (15:10) in a "Money in the Bank Ladder" match
Good match. Great spots. There wasn't a lot of time for transitions. That would have required at least 10 more minutes. There were four great workers who put on great performances in this match. However, the story of the night at the party I attended was something that's been the talk after all the recent Raws: SHELTON BENJAMIN IS HALF-MAN, HALF-AMAZING! Benoit was the f'n man. His performance deserves to be put over big time on Raw. Christian and Y2J were very good too. Kane actually did well for himself. Edge, however, just didn't do anything to deserve to go over in this match. It doesn't get him any heel heat. Had Christian won with Tomko's help, that would have merited heel heat. As it stands, Edge just dialed it in and won with a chair shot.

RAW vs. SmackDown! Match: The Undertaker (SmackDown!) pinned Randy Orton (RAW) (14:06)
I was not surprised that this was a good match. 'Taker can go. And he comes to work at 'Mania every year. The choke slam reversal into the RKO was nice and clean. I didn't have a problem with Bob running in. I actually marked out for the cast and knew it wouldn't be the finish. However, I thought they could have done something to put some heat on Orton after the match. When 'Taker turned around and looked back at the ring, I was hoping he was going back to put some heat on Orton by getting RKO'ed a few times, maybe busted open, and possibly carried from the ring. Yes, they had a good match, but I don't think Orton has anything to show for it.

RAW Women's World Title Match: Trish Stratus pinned Christy Hemme (4:40) to retain the title
Painful to watch at times... seemed like longer than five minutes. Surprised Lita didn't get involved more to help cover for Christy's deficiencies. Also, there was no Lita turn or Lita vs. Trish post-match heat.

RAW vs. SmackDown! Match: Kurt Angle (SmackDown!) defeated Shawn Michaels (RAW) (27:16) by submission
Great match. Had HBK or Angle been NFL quarterbacks in other lives, they'd be guys who make big plays to win the big games. There's no secret that they deliver on the big stage and they did it again. Nothing else really needs to be said here. Great match. Great story. Great surprise finish. At the party I attended, we all literally popped when Angle finally dropped down and grapevined the leg.

(SmackDown!) Sumo Wrestling Match: Akebono defeated The Big Show (3:00) in a "Sumo" match
I took my bathroom break after the introductions... and when I came back, they still hadn't actually made any contact with each other. Luckily this was quick. Again, no extracurricular post-match activity other than the handshake.

SmackDown! World Heavyweight Title Match: John Cena pinned John Bradshaw Leyfield (11:18 ) to win the title
After the finish, I mad the mistake of saying: "Damn, people paid for this average SmackDown match." That didn't go over too well with the guy who invited me to his party. Literally, if that's all they were going to do, they could have given this one away for free on SmackDown... or even Velocity.

RAW World Heavyweight Title Match: Batista pinned Triple H (21:32) to win the title
Triple H made Batista look like an unbeatable monster. One of the guys at the party I attended pointed out that he'd been beaten in the past rather handily by Orton, Goldberg and some others. But Triple H bled and counted the lights on one finisher. Batista muscled out of the Pedigree and was basically allowed to make Triple H look like his bitch whenever the Animal was on the offensive. With this type of build for his in-ring ability, Batista will have to bury opponent after opponent. He cannot lose his title cleanly... I'm talking major screw job to get the belt off of him. He has been elevated to the unbeatable status held by only a few. Personally, I think they've painted themselves into a corner. From the way guys have been built, 'Taker is the only guy on the roster who could be accepted as beating Batista cleanly. If Edge were challenge Batista any time, he'll have to count the lights while getting in only limited offense.

Other thoughts:
:turnturn:
I think WWE has a tendency to paint itself into a corner with regard to heels having to cheat to win. The faces were far too dominant. I think that's one of the reasons that Angle vs. HBK seemed extra special on this card. Trish vs. Hemme doesn't really count... and they botched the finish somewhat.
:turnturn:
Of the young guys, the only one who left the show with less heat on him than Orton was Carlito. I understand that Piper and Austin were on the show to help boost buys, but they could have done something to put some heat on Carlito if he had to be involved in that segment. Getting some shots on Piper didn't really accomplish much for since he ended up taking a thumb to the eye from Piper. Personally, I think Austin and Piper would have been better used on Raw or SmackDown in the weeks leading up to 'Mania. As a fan of the current guys, I just see the time they had as time that could have been given to the ladder match.
:turnturn:
There was zero post-match extracurricular activity. Nothing that hinted toward any future developments. Everything was pretty cut and dry. No turns by Eddie, Lita, Big Show, or Flair. Seems like they really booked this show straightforward for the casual transient fan. The heels cheated and lost (minus Trish and Angle). And they put SmackDown over on both of the inter-show (please don't call them inter-promotional) matches. I don't really have a problem with any of that. I just think some guys left the show heatless, and one may have left looking too strong.
:turnturn:
Note: I still have not seen the Hogan/Hassan/Eugene segment. It must be right after the ladder match. There's a void in the show there for me because of a beer run. I can't really say I cared to see the segment. Or care if I ever see it.

WOW, Dick Hardly now thats what I call a Wrestlemania afterthoughts review, great insites of all the matches and your opinion afterwards.

I feel bad that I missed watching it, but was definitely pleasantly surprised at most of the outcomes.

My Surprises:
-That both Batista and Cena won their respective matches. I figured the WWE would have at least one heel retaining their title.
-That Orton didn't win against Taker. Let's face it now, The Legend Killer thing has run its course.
-That they would resort to putting Christy in a match with Trish. Oops, I forgot that there's hardly any other female wrestlers to fill that spot, with Lita being injured and the WWE dumping the rest of them way back.

What I'm Not Surprised About:
-Some impressions about the ladder match. I've honestly touted Shelton as being a workable superstar and I saw part of that match on RAW that proves it. That T-Bone off the top of the ladder was brutal to look at. And that Triple Threat match on RAW last night for the IC title proves it even more. I'm starting to like the ladder matches more than the title matches sometimes.
-Angle beating HBK and the match itself. Even though I've only seen clips of it on RAW, I had a feeling it was gonna be a classic. Talk about two men leaving it on the mat and then some.

I really feel bad for missing this one, so I could really compare it to last year's. Now THAT was definitely a classic.

I think that was a great review you made Dick, and juballs, I thought you would have given it a bette rating. Here's what I think of all the matches:

Rey Mysterio vs Eddie Guerrero

This match I felt was a little too boring, I mean we didnt really see any lying, cheating or stealing from Eddie and what was worse was that well, Rey did get to hit his finish move, Eddie didnt and yet, the match only ended with Rey just doing a roll up pin. 6/10

Money In The Bank 6-Man Ladder Match

This for me was probably the second best match of the whole entire event. It lived up to it's expectations and everyone made an effort to win the match, no matter how injured they would get afterwards. I felt disappointed afrer seeing Edge win, I thought Benoit was so close, yet he was near enough injured, not being able to reach the case. The title of the match says 'ladder' and Edge used a chair????? lol. Still, of course I know, all goes no dq and so he got the win. 9/10

Trish Stratus vs Christy Hemme for the Women's Championship

This for me went too quickly, I mean soon Christy was able to hit the Twist of Fate (reverse) and get a 2-count, and then right afterwards, Trish hits the Women's Kick and retains the title. I guess the best thing to come out of this match was seeing Christy making her Wrestlemania debut. 4/10.
Undertaker vs Randy Orton

After seeing this match, I am still happy to keep my username as RKO!!!05, I mean it was very good to watch. There were one or two moments where I thought Orton was gonna win, I mean he powerslammed Taker at one stage, but the best part match for me was towards the end where he countered the Chokeslam and gave Taker an RKO. At that point I thought he had it won, but he didnt. Then, he got cocky and tried to do the Tombstone Piledriver, and I thought, nah, he wont do it, but then I was a little surprised to not only see Taker counter it, but reverse it into his trademark Tombstone Piledriver. I reckon this match gets an 8/10.

HBK vs Kurt Angle

In my opinion, this was the match of the night. It had everything from what I saw, submissions, high flying manouveres, Shawn's Sweet Chin Music, (dont know what Angle was doing telling him to tap out at the time, lol) Kurt's Angle Slam and the Ankle Lock which won him the match. It was totally awesome and I dont think the fans who were there could of asked for anything for aswell as us watching it from inside our homes. I was a little sad that HBK didnt win, but I felt Kurt deserved it and it was just great to watch overall. This gets the full 10/10.

Sumo Match: Akebono vs Big Show

Erm. . . . . . . . . . this match was alright I guess, I would have liked to have seen the Big Show win, but in my opinion the favourite was going to come out the likely winner. Happy to see them shake hands and have respect for each other afterwards. I give it an average 5/10.

JBL vs John Cena

This match for me was 50/50 and Cena becoming not only the winner, but also the new champion of course. The reason I say that it was 50/50 is because JBL dominated the first half and Cena was all over him in the second. He gave me a reverse spinning powerbomb, then the 'you cant see me', the the 5 Knuckle Shuffle and almost got the clothesline from hell, but was able to duck and give him the F-U and pin him. Overall I give that a 7/10.

Triple H vs Batista

The third best match for me of the night, seeing Batista in my opinion overcoming the odds and becoming the new champion. I was so happy to see him making Triple H bleed, but I did get worried after when he gave the spinebuster and almost got pedigreed. For most of the match it seemed like a handicap match, but in the end it was the Batista Bomb that got Batista the 1. . . .2. . . .3. This got a 9.5/10.

Other events that took place:

It was great to see Hollywood Hulk Hogan help out Eugene and chuck out those two assholes, Muhammed and Daviari. However, it was a little bit annoying to see him stay out there for soooooo long, lol, but it was great to see his lovely daughter Brooke. Also, it was great to see the hall of fames being accompanied out by the hot divas, (only got to see Candace, Marie, Torrie, Stacy, Joe and Miss Jackie, didnt see the other one.)

For me, seeing Roddy Piper and Stone Cold beat on Carlito was hilarious. Now that's cool lmao. And then seeing him give not only Carlito, but Roddy Piper a Stunner was great too. The beer celebration made it just eve better.

Finally, the very last thing I'd like to add after analysing Wrestlemania XXI is thank you to everybody to made their votes and who made their posts with their suggestions, opinions and comments. You, aswell as myself made this thread very popular and I would like to also say thank you for your contributions aswell and I hoped you all enjoyed Wrestlemania as much as I did and look forward to next year's Wrestlemania XXII in the windy city, Chicago. :)

Great review, RKO!!!05. I agree with you on the ladder match and Angle vs. HBK, but I think you rated JBL vs. Cena way too high.

JUBALLS WRESTLEMANIA RECAP

1.Mysterio over Gurrero
- Decent starting match however i was amazed how many spots gurerro was missing. he seemed to be somewhere else with his mind during this match
- the match obviously did not live up to the two preformers potential
- Just amazes me how eddie can go from highlighting last year by winning WWE title, to this year in the curtain jerker. I would have picked this match as the underdog for match of the night but it did not deliver
(5/10)

2. Money In The Bank Ladder Match
Edge over Christian, Benjamin, Kane, Jericho, Benoit
- I expected this match to be solid and it definately was. This was a wrestlemania level match and all wrestlers knew that. You had 5 workers , who work well together in there and they pulled it off.
- I was disappointed however, as i think that this match should have been for the intercontinental championship, as the belt took a back seat to a contract for a world heavyweight title shot.
-Comparing this match to previous ladder matches, it obviously does not stack up to the classics. (Ramon v. Michaels, TLC's)
- Really the only two people that needed the push in this match were christian and edge, so i knew one of them was gonna win it. if played at the write time, this contract thing has some promise to it.
- Hats off to benoit for doing some major colour in this match.
(8/10)

** Why was David Arquette in the audience with hogans family during the whole Eugene/Hassan angle?? just thought i'd ask**

3. Taker over Orton
- Wasnt expecting much from this match and it delivered exactly that
- Taker is getting up in age, and he cant keep up.
-Orton is a good worker and a great prospect, but ever since his face turn from evolution, they squashed him. He needed the spotlight so they tried to turn him heel, only to have him get squashed by take at mania.
-by no means am i saying orton should have won, as i think takers streak should be ended by somebody that needs a major push in the coming years, but other match options were available to orton so he could build his heal angle
- Best spot of mania happened in this match as Bob Orton came out with the cast, me and my buddies were howling at this, cause this is just classic. I then made the remark that Bob Orton could be the next Chavo Sr., and i really hope they do something with that, but its the WWE so i doubt it
(4/10)

4. Trish over Christy
-Terrible match, u really have to feell for trish.
- Not much to say except im happy to see Trish keeps the belt, even though the womens division has be decimated to about 4 or 5 solid wrestlers.
(0/10)

5.Angle over Michaels
MATCH OF THE NIGHT!
-Luckly i voted for this match to be the highlight of Wrestlemania and i was right
-2 solid preformers, these two couldnt have a bad match if they tried.
- so many good spots in this match from different holds, to different submissions
- Crowd seemed to turn on Michaels after he low blowed angle, but quicky gave angle the hat back.
- excellent match and this match is enough to make the 50 dollars payed well worth it (although i didnt pay lol)
(10/10)

6. Akebono over Show
- Glad they kept this short.
- This was better then the womens match but not by much.
- Definately a staged sumo fight, but i thought it seemed awfully dangerous with the height of the ring when the goal is to throw ur opponent out of the circle.
- Pee break during this as this was not a highlight of wrestlemania
(1/10)

7. Cena over JBL
- Crowd did not seem to into this one.
- I would have preffered JBL to win and build some heat in this angle, but Cena went over
- The ending really came out of nowhere with Cena hitting the FU
- Bad news is Cena is the new champ, and i think its too early, his ring work aint where it needs to be, especially when u only have 2 solid workers on smackdown with Gurerro and Angle
(5/10)

8. Batista over HHH
- it was inevitable, Batista was gonna win
- Fair match, as Batista has really improved a lot in the past year and a half.
- I figure HHH just wants to win and lose the title 6 more times so then he can surpass Flair as the most winningest heavyweight champion ever.
(7/10)

Overall the show was average for me.i didnt see anything spectacular outside from michaels v. angle. The ladder match was good but in comparison to previous ones it was not outstanding.

i give the show a

(6/10)
i expect more from wrestlemania

I agree with you juballs on what you said about it being for the IC Title. However, I think it may have been less exciting and those competing would have been less interested because with getting that contract, you not only become the #1 Contender, but its for the most coverted title on the RAW show.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to give my overall total for Wrestlemania and I am doing it by the amount I tallied from what I gave for all the matches. So far it's 57.5/100, but I am adding 8/10 for seeing a glimpse of the hot, and I mean the hot divas in the WWE accompanying the hall of famers to the triatron. Basically, 4 of the 8 for the divas, the other 4 for seeing Hogan not once, but twice and 10/10 for my fav wrestler Stone Cold. So that's an overall score of. . . . . . . . . .75.5/100, which is not bad in my opinion, but it sure as hell didnt top last year's as you mentioned Juballs about Eddie for instance.

You know, something has made me wondered and I would like to ask the admin/freeones if I may change my username from RKO to Deadman or Austin 3:16 and still keep my rep points and post count???

lol, i also wanted to point out one other thing the WWE did wrong at wrestlemania.
why on hell do they always squash their upcoming talent.
first off Carlito, i understand not the best ring worker, but still very early in his career, by putting the US title on him, u automatically put him in the top 10 on smackdown. now u have him come out and austin stuns him...like if your building heat on this guy, why not have him cork piper or austin to set up some heat. Austin dosent need to get over, and neither does piper , the people love them
Lastly, Muhammed Hassan, as much as people may hate him he is a fairly respectable worker in the ring and his gimmick is solid as far as gimmicks go these days. Yet he gets squashed by a one timer in hulk hogan, it was great to see hogan back, hopefully not for long but to squash muhammed just like that is a joke. hassan is undefetead on Raw, and he got his ass handed to him by a 50 year old geriatric patient who cant even do the leg drop anymor becuase of his destroyed hips.
the WWE always does this and they proved it at wrestlemania

LMAO!!!!!! :1orglaugh I totally agree with you fully juballs. I would give you rep for all your opinions and comments that you have made here but I cant just yet, but when I get the next chance I will. I dont know if you already know, but I added you to my buddy list a couple of days. Hope you will add me to yours.

It did make me wonder too how he was not able to get the leg drop done on neither of those two, lol!!!

I also agree with what you said about Carlito and Muhammed, maybe they should get chances just like Christy done in the Womens division, I mean I'm happy she got to make a wrestlemania debut, but with the women's title involved??? And with Carlito, getting the U.S. Title straight away??? I mean, adding to that, you might aswell just give the World Title to Muhammed too, lol!!!!

i didnt mind them giving the US championship to Carlito, cause it gave him instant heel heat. the injury didnt help, but they did a good job to keep him active and keep the heat on him. Now that hes back it seems like they just gave up and fed him to the dog(austin)
Muhammed, he needs a long term fued, he has proven he can work(as long as it isnt with benoit, he is the only wrestler alive that cant have a good match with benoit). This is where he should change shows and go or the US title from a face. him vs. lets say like a booker t or something, and booker t is the US champ, and he fights on americas behalf. and hussan could go over, and take the US title, bringing about whole new options.
just my fantasy booking taking over lol

juballs, I agree with what you said about them leaving the younger talent heatless. I pointed that same thing out in my review. In my opinion, you can add Orton to that list with Carlito and Hassan. And following Raw, Orton is even more burried (no pun intended considering his 'Mania opponent).

Again great reviews also from RKO and Juballs. I strongly regret missing the PPV, as it was my first I missed since WM16. From everything said it sounds like it was a pretty good show with its typical hype up. Even my wife felt guiklty for making me miss this, but we had more important things to deal with like moving. Plus I had a wicked hangover from drinking the night before. Definitely picking up the DVD though.

Sorry I never voted in this poll, but I certainly would have picked Angle and HBK, two of the best wrestlers out there.

great reviews guys! i enjoyed reading your thoughts on wrestlemania, but i have to say im disappointed in wrestlemania this year, i mean the title matches are supposed to be the highlight of wrestlemania, seeing how they are scheduled at the end and all, both were predictable and boring, angle and HBK had to be the best singles match ive seen in my entire time watching wrestling! overall id give wrestlemania 21 a 6/10 simply because of 4 things- the angle/shawn michaels match, the ladder match, the taker/orton match, and piper's pit (love stone cold, it rocks seeing him back)
