The one and only.
I guess the pilot couldn't make the save...

George Costanza: You know Keith, what I've always wondered, with all these ball clubs flying around all season don't you think there would be a plane crash? ...

George Costanza: But if you think about it...26 teams, 162 games a season, you'd think eventually an entire team would get wiped out.

No offense. This is what came to mind when I heard about this on the news today.

In preseason hockey news, the Jets have defeated the Lokomotiv.

(Yeah, I know, I know... I'm on my way to ask for forgiveness right now)

I've thought that for a long time. I always wondered when something like this would happen.

mine too, actually. just watched that 5 days ago. i actually thought to myself, "i hope this doesn't happen to a hockey team"

RiP to the players and flight crew. The Yak-42 was said to have crashed right after takeoff. It will be interesting to see what the CVR/FDR readouts say.

Again, very similar to the Munich Air Disaster.

According to reports, the plane did not ascend fast enough after take off and collided with an antenna before crashing. It has also been confirmed that the only survivors are a crew member and forward Alexander Galimov who suffered burns on 80% of his body. Both are in critical condition.

I cannot understand why the team was flying on a plane that had been banned from flying in European airspace for being too dangerous. There is absolutely blood on their hands on this one. One of my all time favourite players is now dead and it is just sinking in.

I hope this does not mean the end for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. And i really hope Galimov survives so he can be there when the team, in whatever form it may be in, returns to the ice.

^^ You happen to be a fan of one of the players, so you're upset.

But you mock the death of a player last week that was a past member of a team you weren't a fan of.

Something tells me that the death of an entire team is harder to accept than the death of a single, suicidal person, especially when the main cause of this accident is the fact that someone decided that the team should fly in an essentially condemned airplane. I didn't follow Belak; I followed Demitra. If you are going to bitch about what I say then don't go and look at my second post in this thread.

I can't imagine how the fans of the team must feel

If the Celtic team were killed on a flight, i think it would take me a long time to recover, especially since i love the team so much. And since it was a huge blow when Jimmy Johnstone and Tommy Burns died

My best wishes go out to every fan of that team

That's some great managers.

I remember reading in a book about 20-some years ago, that Major League Baseball had such a contingency plan in place, every team contributing one player to form an "instant team"...
