Photos of Florida teacher cause complaints

West Boca parent Rita Solnet-Motta who heard about the site said she felt sorry for Chevillar because of the publicity surrounding the pictures. "We all do stupid things in college," she said. "Maybe it's a good lesson for the kids to learn when you do stupid things when you're young it can come back to haunt them."

Like any other statement in the press things get distorted. But I do find it disturbing that the parent refers to what Erica Chevillar did as stupid.

I wholeheartedly concur, Ortho. Modeling in a swimsuit, or nude, and later starting a teaching career are not inadmirable choices, nor do they conflict with one another.

Fucking prudes. :thefinger :ban:

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
She's not coming to class in the bikini. She doesn't have any pics hanging in class. Then she should be left alone, and backed up by the school. Unfortunatly, she would have been thrown to the wolves had she not decided to leave on her own. I find it disturbing that in todays day and age, a person is condemned for something as inocent as bikini photos...especialy when they were most likely discovered by little punks surfing where they shouldn't...or someones dad looking for porn. Maybe the moms are a little jealous because they have become used up and haggered over time, maybe they should be keeping an eye on what websites there kids are going to.

It is difficult with todays media to have any past indiscretions, not to say that posing in a legitimate bathing suit is one. It was the right thing for her to leave though. She wouldn't have time to teach with all the fathers requesting "parent teacher conferences."

What a bunch of crap, I must agree that the employeers should have stood behind her seeing as how what she did several years before is not officially against policy.I can also understand how students trading links and talking about it could be a bit disturbing for her, which is probably why she left. I hate people that get up in arms about stupid shit that is years in the past. Lets take President Clintons grass usage in college, then twenty years later someone drags it up for the sake of morality......BULLCOOKIES!!!

I don't see how that photo is racy. She's in a bikini!! Some horny kid could take a pic of a girl on the beach and pass it around school too. The only think here is the fact she's in the public eye. You know I bet these "outraged" mothers have pics of themselves in bikini's when they were younger. Their probably pissed because now they weigh 300 lbs and can't get the figure back so they'll take it out in this poor girl.

She should file a harrassment suit against the parent who complained and disparaged her good name. She should also sue the parent that called her "stupid".

Stupid? That one parent is saying that having tasteful pictures taken of your self and earning money is "stupid". That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

I don't know, Nightfly - any basis for a case?

Eh, you could make a case for slander, or defamation of character, but it would be a weak one. There is no way anyone would win a case over saying that someone did something stupid. The teacher should def respond to that statement and hold her ground though. If it was me, I would call that parent ignorant.

:dunno:
How about the harassment resulting from the original complaint itself? Either way, I doubt this publicity will negatively impact her real estate career. Plenty of horny men in Florida buying houses.......

Damn if I had a teacher like that I would have paid attention more often.

To spark up a controversy over that shit is just lame, as if a few pics like that actually hurt anyone, if she looks anything like she did then I bet them kids were thumpin their bones to her even before they seen the pics.

Well, she'll probably be happier in real estate anyways.

She can teach me anytime!!!...;)

agreed. See you in class :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

You're absolutely right. It'd be a weak case, but with some juries you never know. lol

Since she's not a public figure, such as Martha Stewart or Michael Jackson, or Donald Trump or G.W. Bush, libel (written) and slander (spoken) laws do protect her, but her case would be weak as Hell and not worth the filing fee to sue, IMO. She'd almost certainly lose, given all the circumstances involved. She's already stated she was going to change careers, and given that, the only damages she could realistically even be considered for are punitive, and those would be minimal even IF she won her case.

:2 cents:

You'd think the school board would hire her back!!! :2 cents: I bet the boy's never missed any of her class's! :nanner: I wish I'd had teachers like that, ;) I'd never missed a day or class of whatever! "No Child Left Behind", that would be one way, don't know about the girls what it would take!
