Paranoia or security......

so Lord Vader, a soldier kicking my ass for speaking my mind is going to demonstrate to me how he protects my freedoms and doesn't perpetrate violence?

So you like people calling you a terrorist? Contrary to what you say about soldiers, 2 guys I work worth just came back from Iraq and have been put down for fighting in the war. Just like Vietnam vets they have been called baby killers etc. Tell you what they don't like it and it pisses them off. They feel like they are not getting the respect and honor which they deserve. I far as I can tell and I know them good they don't see themselves as terrorists so I can't really understand what you're talking about.

Please go through my post once more lordvader1. I said each soldier is a terrorist in his mind. That's true and while gunning for the enemy he does want them to terrorise, so that he don't get a shot at him. You have narrowed down the meaning of terrorism, and that I don't agree to.

So you didn't join the Army to fight for the ideals and uphold the democracy of your country you fought for yourself? I guess all the books I've read and all the documenteries I've watch about being a soldier and fighting for your country we bullshit. Sure you have to watch your back but give me a break.

Yes, when I joined I had, all those things you mentioned, very much in my mind. It was drilled in my head when I was in training. But when I faced the bullets my perspective changed. I was not in a mock fight with blanks. I saw my friend die because of a mortar splinter penetrated his throat. I fought to remain alive. I knew if I don't kill, I will be killed. I became a robot with a killer instinct. Kill or die. That, my friend, is not a very pleasnt sensation. When you get back from the front, you start thinking and those are not pleasant thoughts. I wish to God you don't ever have the chance to experience that.

I am a full believer in democracy. Now answer me a question, if you're boarding a plane and there are Arab on it, with all that's happening in the world the thought won't go through your mind even for a microsecond that one of them could be a terrorist wanting to blow you up? It's the image that they have put on themselves. The U.S. didn't do it, George Bush didn't do it, Tony Blair didn't do it. The Arab world has given themselves a bad rap and it's up to them to fix it.

I normally don't repeat myself. But I won't have any reservation to be a single non-arab in a plane-full of Arabs. You know why? Because I'm not a coward. A coward dies thosand times before his death. And for the other part, please read this post of mine. http://board.freeones.com/showpost.php?p=906396&postcount=13

Regards and leave in peace.

a black gay female has the same rights as a white straight male in American society... :)
Actually, she probably has more rights and she DEFINITELY gets more tax breaks and incentives should she choose to open her own business.

Never said you were a coward I just asked you a simple question that has come across my mind while flying and I wanted some feedback. So because I think an Arab may have bomb on him while sitting on my plane I'm a coward? You couldn't be more wrong and for you previous post in the link, lot's of speculation in there. Seems like way too many of you hate me for my beliefs in these matters. That's fine, I can be the asshole of the Freeones boards. Sorry to keep this thing going about the honor of a soldier but I've spoken to men who have had the exact opposite feelings as you. I guess it was a different war in a different time. Even though I disagree with you on this matter I do have to give you some respect and a thumbs up for having the guts to enter the military and face what you did. My family has a strong military history and because of medical reasons I couldn't be apart of that. So in strange way I envy you for the horrors that you undertook. That's all I have to say........

Cowardice is when combatants choose to involve civilians instead of keeping combat between actually armed combatants.

A soldier purposely and extensively goes out of his way to avoid civilians. Whenever a soldier does not, it's plastered all over the news. It's never the norm but the exception.

A terrorist purposely and extensively goes out of his way to avoid soldiers when killing civilians. And if he can help it, he will ensure there are civilians around to protect any danger to himself from soldiers.

The level of rhetoric I see applied to suggest otherwise is extremely laughable, but quite sad given how many times soldiers are shot as they hold fire to avoid civilian casulties while enemy combatants have no such regard. That's why they are called terrorists.

Damn, we sure have a bunch of political threads going all at once, huh?

Sure thing Wolf. You may hate politics itself or the politicians. But unfortunately it dictates all our lives. You can run but you can't escape it.

Discussing it with others let you vent your apathy if nothing else. And that is good for health.

What's funny it seems more ideas are exchanged on a message board than at a "real" board room table. Maybe it has something to do with sitting right in front of the other debater, face2face?

I'm afraid to say it...but what would happen if it got so bad that all people with passports from certain countries couldn't travel by plane? What precautions are airports prepared to make?
