So you like people calling you a terrorist? Contrary to what you say about soldiers, 2 guys I work worth just came back from Iraq and have been put down for fighting in the war. Just like Vietnam vets they have been called baby killers etc. Tell you what they don't like it and it pisses them off. They feel like they are not getting the respect and honor which they deserve. I far as I can tell and I know them good they don't see themselves as terrorists so I can't really understand what you're talking about.
Please go through my post once more lordvader1. I said each soldier is a terrorist in his mind. That's true and while gunning for the enemy he does want them to terrorise, so that he don't get a shot at him. You have narrowed down the meaning of terrorism, and that I don't agree to.
So you didn't join the Army to fight for the ideals and uphold the democracy of your country you fought for yourself? I guess all the books I've read and all the documenteries I've watch about being a soldier and fighting for your country we bullshit. Sure you have to watch your back but give me a break.
Yes, when I joined I had, all those things you mentioned, very much in my mind. It was drilled in my head when I was in training. But when I faced the bullets my perspective changed. I was not in a mock fight with blanks. I saw my friend die because of a mortar splinter penetrated his throat. I fought to remain alive. I knew if I don't kill, I will be killed. I became a robot with a killer instinct. Kill or die. That, my friend, is not a very pleasnt sensation. When you get back from the front, you start thinking and those are not pleasant thoughts. I wish to God you don't ever have the chance to experience that.
I am a full believer in democracy. Now answer me a question, if you're boarding a plane and there are Arab on it, with all that's happening in the world the thought won't go through your mind even for a microsecond that one of them could be a terrorist wanting to blow you up? It's the image that they have put on themselves. The U.S. didn't do it, George Bush didn't do it, Tony Blair didn't do it. The Arab world has given themselves a bad rap and it's up to them to fix it.
I normally don't repeat myself. But I won't have any reservation to be a single non-arab in a plane-full of Arabs. You know why? Because I'm not a coward. A coward dies thosand times before his death. And for the other part, please read this post of mine.
