TOP-10 "Only In America" Observations ~ by a Canadian:

1) Only in America, could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000.00 a plate campaign fund-raising event.

2) Only in America, could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is black while only 12% of the population is black.

3) Only in America, could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner, the head of the Treasury Department and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means Committee, BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.

4) Only in America, can they have terrorists **** people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.

5) Only in America, would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege while we discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become American citizens.

6) Only in America, could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be thought of as "extremists."

7) Only in America, could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy *******, but not to vote.

8) Only in America, could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).

9) Only in America, could the government collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year - for total spending of $7 Million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money.

10) Only in America, could the rich people - who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.

Just let that sit there for awhile.

However, a Canadian DID say this....

God Bless Gordon Sinclair!

if you think black people somehow have it easy in America, you're fucking clueless.

A-Where did that come from?
B-So, you think you have an idea of how things are over here in the US from where you are, way over there in Finland?

Nope. Just an educated Finn who hates people that don't understand their own privilege.

So, where are you trying to go with this?

By the way, and this goes for everyone, 'educated' isn't the same as 'smart.' Nowadays, 'educated' is synonymous with 'indoctrinated.' "Brain washed' for you 'educated' people.

and a Finn said you're all a bunch of idiotic rednecks. I win.

Oh, well, if a Finn says it, it must be true

:sarcasm:

Are you a Negro?

You should've gone for the fact she's in Finland and only knows of the US from what she's heard and read, and not experienced.

Yup. That's it. Wasn't born in NYC or anything. Didn't grow up in one of the worst neighborhoods on Staten island. you know me so well.

"2) Only in America, could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is black while only 12% of the population is black. "

This implies that someone the African American community no longer gets discriminated against by the Government and that by having a back President suddenly eveyrthing is a-fucking-okay for them, when that just isn't true. I've seen it my entire life.

And last I checked people haven't risked their lives to get to Finland.

:glugglug:

No, they risked their lives to get away/ from places like Finland, Europe, and other places that are run by control freaks, for freedom and better lives here in the US. And here we are, with a bunch of ignorant people who don't know how good they've got it, wanting us to go back to what so many of us fled from. A few lucky people in charge who get the good life, and the rest of us enslaved to the government.

You people who want Socialist European-style government, can go to Europe. (And I say go, we won't miss you.) Those of us who don't, we have no where else to go until we can colonize the moon, Mars, or some other celestial body to start what was attempted here anew. After the Romans failed and the US failed, maybe the third time will be the charm, and we'll get it right in a way that it'll last.

No one alive is leaving Finland to find "freedom". You've no idea what you're talking about. We're not some ex-soviet state. We beat Russia twice, actually. Our education and health systems are better, and in a lot of ways we're a lot more free than the US, mostly because there's a lot less judgement and religious fanaticism. But hey, you can go ahead and make even more assumptions. I actually had a thread in Politics about how ridiculous it is when Americans try to tell me how not free we are.

Then maybe all of the welfare brotha's oughta head to Finland. How do you all feel about feeding 5 babies from 5 different fathers over in the land of snow?

There are some very forward thinking European & South American countries, I only hope that Australia will take heed from these countries. Strangely enough the US assisted with some of the European countries constitutions after WWII & they were way ahead of their time ... (???) But I do like Obama's capping of senior executive salaries - its about fucking time! :2 cents:
