Well, as my favorite TV character once said, "My days of not taking you seriously are definitely coming to a middle." This is about the dumbest thing I've seen you post, and that's saying something.

First of all, there's no such thing as an "American" name. There are only Americans with names. And he didn't authorize anything. He is not in a position to authorize anything.

As has been posted repeatedly, with not much notice, the mosque is not going up at ground-zero.

And where does a European get off trying to tell us about patriotism?

Before you judge me on one post, have a look about how much contributed on that board. I have been a member of that board for almost 7 years (soon to be the 30th august). I have discussed and debated several political threads with various type of people. What pains me is that you fail to realize to realize that in politics, there is no in between, you are either for or against something, you stand for or against something. This is enough clear. You must be naive to think that in politics there is the place for in between or maybe because in politics there is no such thing.

The fact is that this mosque will be built near ground zero, no matter how you interpret it but many people find it insulting. I and my relatives have lost some close friends during 9/11 so don't try to lecture me regarding Patriotism. My both uncles fought in vietnam (opertaions linebacker I and II), my cousins also fought in Iraq (Desert Shield) and in Serbia. I don't have the point of view of the typical European and I don't think like an European. People who know me well, are long time board members. Always try to know who you are dealing with , to put some stickers on someone you don't know is not the best thing to do.

You have it exactly wrong about politics sir. There are people who are for or against something all the time just depending who or what they're responding to.

Case in point....there are people right now who thump the US Constitution all day long but when it deals with a politically incorrect issue...all of the sudden they forget the US has a constitution which guarantees certain rights and protections.

Republicans preach constitution this and constitution that all the time but when a test like this comes up...all of the sudden they lose the word from their vocabulary.:dunno:

You're not an American citizen. I don't expect you to value the worth of our constitution or know anything about it beyond the 2nd amendment because you like firearms.

"Insulting"? That's pretty funny because I actually read the details of the plans and located in this center will be a 9/11 memorial. "Pretty funny" to me because in all of this bluster these people are apparently the only ones to actually memorialize some place near the site with an official building in all these years since.

While I think the issue is controversial to be sure..the more I read about it the more I see it as a contrived controversy.:horse:

Ground Zero is hallowed ground but the proposed site, which is two blocks away, is not hallowed ground. Let's remember it is not being built on ground zero.

What' the probleme with a mosque at Ground Zero ?
It would be a great symbol of tolerance, a symbol that Ilslam and western culture can tolerate each other. Considering the fact the Al Qaida organised 9/11 because they just can't tolerate Western culture, what a great symbol to build a mosque in the very place were it happens. What a great way to say : "You made 9/11 to tell that you can't tolerate US but we're stronger than you and we're better than you because we can tell we tolerate Muslims. You think Islam and Western culture can co-exist, we say they can !".

Refusing such a project would made USA no better than the Talibans.

Human remains were carried farther than the 2 block radius making it hallowed ground. However it's not possible to encompass the entire area officially as such. However, the Cordoba Crap can be stopped since it's primarily a muslim center headed by a imam who will not renounce Hamas. To have this center built is an afront, an insult, a slap in the face of everyone who lost family.

Amazing so many have forgotten who murdered these several thousand innocent people and in who's name this deed was done.

Why dont the muslims erect a Tower of Tolerance in Mecca? Why do we have to bend over backwards for these people!!!

Because you have it right?? Hhah :1orglaugh:D Please give me a break. What have given the Clinton years? Three attacks were done during his both presidential terms and he did nothing to arrest the culprits, first one in 1993 first wtc bombing, 1997 bombing of the ambassy in Nairobi and bombing of the USS Cole in 1999. I do remember the clinton assault weapon ban but has it reduced problems? No , it hasn't because the ghetto boy snitch snitch ghetto bitch mentality is still present in the shittiest suburbs of the biggest towns in the USA. ALENA and NAFTA have improved slightly the economic growth of the US but they weren't as successful nor efficient as the reaganomics were. Culturally what positive have the leftists or liberals brought???Oprah, Jesse Jackson and Farrakhan are some of the most disgraceful people that represent the American culture. They are more symbols of communautarism than something else. Making stupid tests against the constitution isn't acceptable and insulting what the founding fathers fought for is also inadmissible. In Europe, in most of the cases, the people who vote for socialists/leftists are mainly the poor, the ones living in trashy/scummy suburbs or lazy unwilling too work social healthcare leech offs and parasites. Those were the very same persons who supported Obama during his victory. Their educational and iq level are so low that I don't expect any intelligence nor any kind of a reasoned forward thinking from the leftists in Europe. The 2nd amendment is one of the key figures of what makes the Americans proud to live in their country. What would be the US without the 2nd amendment? Not the place where Americans would like to live I think. Not all republicans lose their vocabulary when they are confronted to an argument, you must be a little out of the reality to think so.

lovejoy said the story was bullshit
lovejoy never steered me wrong.

so are we debating a non existent issue here or not?

but really, lets admit it would be at least ironic, maybe in bad taste/insulting/disrespectful if an actual mosque was built on the site considering that the horror and death that went down that day was done in the name of the god that is worshipped in a mosque.

Errr, because we are better?:dunno: Hell If I know.

True, we are better. We're a thousand light years ahead of them in every way.
But sometimes it would be nice to see their Ummah do something like:

-Renounce violence and all terror groups.

-List all those who continue to murder as apostate and fatwas issued against them.

-Close all madrassas as they're nothing more than factories turning out terrorists.

-Apologize to all their victims and families.

-Extend the hand of friendship and tolerance to non muslims.

So what basis does the US g'ment have to deny them a right every other American enjoys on the basis of their religion? I don't expect a rational answer though.:1orglaugh

Maybe because the people who are attempting to build this are US citizens?:dunno: Jews and Simon Wiesenthal have their museum of tolerance on US soil and no one bent over backwards for them (well some would argue that point as we're bending over backwards and forwards) nor did they have to go to Israel to build it...Why should Americans of Muslim faith have to go to Saudi Arabia to build one of theirs???

:wtf:Another rambling salad of tossed topics...:georges: Aside from the inaccuracies in that gobble-d gook of babble, can we get back to the topic of this thread?:o

Having human rights being discarded because of intolerance and political inconvenience is a slap in the face to every person that has had to struggle or die to protect the beliefs in those things.

I also find it stupid that all those people that complain about all the political figures that don't follow the constitution are all of a sudden upset when Obama does his job and sworn duty by doing so.

How dare you speak in lofty terms of idealism when panderism is clearly what's at stake here???
