I haven't seen anything anecdotal or otherwise that makes the case for keeping the tax cuts for the top 2% under the circumstances.
The ideological tax cut premise always seems to fall back on the bogus notion that Reagan's tax cuts (virtually alone) stimulated the economy.
But it would be nice if we could wrap up our deployment in Afghanistan.
Yeah, we need to get out of Afghanistan. I think our military actions should be more for retribution and applying discipline, not taking over countries. If we need to descend on a country with ungodly force, in our own best interest, we need to do it and get out of there. (Alright, that is an emotional argument - what happens in the void left behind? Anyone who thinks they really have the answers is fooling themselves.)
I did my Masters Thesis on Regan's approach. Tax revenues did increase, but there was no fiscal discipline that would have made the approach work. So, it failed.
Bush's cuts? I have no idea what the strategy beyond the political was.
