Re: the Official Nikki Nova thread

Ok now it is Tuesday May 3rd. Here in the states we have a little thing called Cinco De Mayo where everyone goes out and drinks and eats mexican food basically. It's a Mexican holiday but so is St Patricks Day and it doesn't keep the non-Irish from celebrating as well. I guess my question is, are any of you doing anything to celebrate or acknowledge Cinco De Mayo?

Hope you feel better soon, Jon. Get some rest, and don't over do it next time.:nono:
Thanks & point WELL taken! Think I'll go back to sleep/bed right now!

Because many Americans are poorly educated idiots. That's the reality.

What she said!!! Couldn't have put it better myself if I tried!

You are correct sir....Cinco de Mayo is May 5th! I just figured Nikki was asking ahead of time. I was just thinking about it today & that was before I read the post.

Now, given that I said I was thinking about it....I'm definitely going to be doing something for it (going to a celebration at a local Mexican restaurant). The worst I will be doing is eating some Mexican food.....no Tequila or Margaritas or booze of any kind for me...for OBVIOUS reasons! Ha ha ha!

Re: the Official Nikki Nova thread

Hello Everyone. I haven't posted anything in a couple of days. Right now I am working on a review for another site and I'm working on Nikki Nova's top 25 movies for my site.

Nikki - I watched Santa Sangre last night because it was one of the first movies on your list and to be honest I'm not quite sure what to think of it. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. Will have to let that one sit with me for a while.

Jon - I'm sorry to hear that you are sick. I have a taste of the flu myself. Your one of Nikki's biggest supporters and I hate to think of something bad happening. I can't keep up with the level of work you do

RougeAlan - Thank god my neice doesn't enter pagant shows because if I saw that type of dancing and the girls are not at least 20 years of age.. I would stand up and disrupt the whole show.

As for Cinco De Mayo. I have a houseparty to go to the day after. I think they are calling it Sexto De Mayo. chips, Salsa, beer, tequila, and good friends. Sometimes it's the simpler things that make me smile

if my niece was entered in one of those, id teach her to kick the crap out of the other girls. that would put an end to that. ban for life! problem solved

yeah, but a giant turd doesnt shine at all. its just a giant turd.
Little do you know, but that's actually INSULTING.........to giant turds everywhere!

Anyway, still feeling a little out of sorts. Had a few dizzy spells today.....BUT, much to my surprise, and I don't know what to make of this....BUT, my blood pressure is the best it's been in quite sometime! Like 123/82! STRANGE! About 10 points better!

Now, I saw some discussion about drinking and hangovers. Many know my dad (though I didn't live around him) was an alcoholic. Had a good steady job (which he eventually lost because of glug glug before the early grave)...BUT yeah! So that is all the inspiration I ever needed not to follow in his footsteps! One of the best memories of your father is that he was an alcoholic isn't exactly enduring!

For the record, the last time I ever had a hangover was 16 years ago following my high school 5 year class reunion! Now.....that's a LONG story....so I'll save it for later...but, I will say that that was the drunkest I have ever been in my life! Ha ha ha!

Honestly, the last time I was hungover was when I was 4 years old. And no I am not making that up. But it too is a long story. ;)

I almost thought I read "4 years ago," then after reading it 3 times...I got it! Ha ha ha!

In the meantime, the Cliff's Notes (remember those) version of my "Reunion Story":

1. Held at a picnic grounds.
2. "Strangely" only the "cool" crowd showed up.
3. Good food (BBQ) and PLENTY of beer.
4. Sad how I was like the only guy in shape anymore (think beer guts). SAD!!!
5. Idiots trying to talk a drunken me into burning down the pavilion.
6. Girls talking me out of it (which was unnecessary....I mean...HELLO!?!?)
7. Too drunk to drive....went with friends to a bar (though I was already drunk) where one dude's mother worked.
8. Someone kept supplying me with hard liquor (no idea who was paying for it).
9. Got passed out drunk......threw up in bathroom.....and though I had decided to spend the night at a friend's house....I walked out of the bar.
10. Roamed around a bit....fell down a hill.
11. Walked about 30 miles (including up and down a mountain) in the middle of the night, before calling home for my brother to come pick me up at around 5 AM (these were the days of payphones....before cell phones became all the rage).
12. Went back to get car the next day!
13. Clothes were dirty and legs were cut up (was wearing shorts....fall down the hill?), but my wallet and money were still safe and sound.
13. Never really been drunk ever again!

Now, in closing.....VERN, thanks for the kind words and thoughts. For the record, supporting Nikki is one of the easiest things I do.....because, quite simply, she is an incredible and amazing person. Sometimes, it's actually harder not supporting her as much as I would like to be able to.

Re: the Official Nikki Nova thread

yes it's definitely the "weirdest" one on my list but I love it. It holds a lot of nostalia for me from a very good time in my life. It's not for everyone. You kind of have to be into the "oddly" avante guard haha.
It's a twisted art film and the director has a very unique style. His other works are good too in my opinion.

Re: the Official Nikki Nova thread

Actually I bet it is similar to something that happened to my oldest friend on the planet. She was 3 and wanted some orange juice. There was a pitcher of screwdrivers in the fridge that her mom had made. To her it just tasted like yummy orange juice and she drank a lot and ended up a plastered three yr old. I'm guessing yours was innocent as well.

Not exactly. I joined a friend of my dad's out in the yard where he was drinking bourbon with beer chasers. My dad had to go in the house, and I started matching shot for shot without the chasers.

I don't remember much of anything from that day. Hahaha!
