The rule doesn't apply to Crosby because he actually showed up in Montreal today. Datsyuk and Lidstrom didn't. Come on, man ... get over your blind Crosby hatred already.

Oh, wow! That makes the rule so much more sensible. Crosby SHOWED UP  Lidstrom and Datsyuk didn't show up for the All-Star festivities, so they deserve to be suspended for a regular season game that actually matters for not playing in one that doesn't.

If anything, that makes the rule that much more ridiculous. Whether or not I dislike Crosby (which I don't, I just realize, like most true hockey fans, that he's not even close to the best player in the NHL and the NHL should try to market some other players instead of Crosby, Crosby, Crosby all the time) this rule makes no sense. Come on, man, could you possibly disagree?

One of the all-time boneheaded policies I've ever seen in pro sports.

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
Alright fuck it! I can't stand sidney crysby!! he's a great player don't get me wrong, but IMO he is a wuss. a puss. a whiner! a crybaby! a prima-donna! and I don't like the way he plays nor his personality! plays like a wussy! and his quiet no sense of emotion, passive demeanor makes me dislike him all together!! I think their are several players that are BETTER than sidney crysby!! and its a pretty damn long list too boot!!

Sorry if I hurt anybodies feelings, but I am not holding up how I feel for anybody, nor to please anybody!! he's a damn drama queen and I can't fuckin stand him!!

I have the right to my opinion whether or not is liked or if anybody agrees with me or not?! dats just how I feel about the dude!!

For example, so and so is my favorite player and you dislike him for whatever reason??? personally I don't give a fuck!! ya heard? nobodies gonna hurt my feelings or make me mad cuz somebody dislikes my favorite player! :dunno:

And as far hating, disliking teams, that's opinion also!! I know my RED WINGS are hated by most, and loved by most!! and while I am saying this, you won't believe me, but I don't like the way the RED WINGS play!!

I think they are a soft, passive team, with no physical presence, and I like too see fights when my elite players are gettin run @ and no RED WINGS can sheriff the ice, and I hate that!!! but I love winning the Stanley cup allot!! so beggars can't be choosers I guess!!:D

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
Just to clarify my last post in reference to my dislike for sidney crysby! I don't hate the guy, that was wrong for me to say, I don't wish him death or a career ending injury or something to that effect..

But if in the course of a NHL game somebody lands a LEGITIMATE check / hit that KO's crysby for however long it is, I would have a certain degree of satisfaction!

As long as it was a LEGAL hit, then I can't in my mind say well sidney crysby is seriously injured after playing a intensely physical game and was injured when he was leveled by a vicious hit that was legal, but it still shouldn't happen cuz its sidney crysby! dats :bs: I am elated in a legal NHL way!

If you play like a wuss and you are a marked man because of it, you better keep yo head up, cuz people are gonna run ya! when they get the opportunity!!

sidney crysby getting KO'd in a fight would be a great bonus of satisfaction for me!!! I would love that to know end!!! I would save it on video / DVD for the rest of my life!!!

P.S. This is a little bit :2offtopic, but in the grand scheme of the game and certain events that happen to certain players dictate a teams season in some cases! for example it gave a team the tenacity to believe they were destined for glory that year!!

I relish the night when Patrick Roy got his ass beat in Detroit 3/26/97!!! dats the day the RED WINGS shook the all the haunting of 42 years without hoisting lord Stanley's chalice, off themselves and lay declare this the year it ends!!! that day propelled and willed them to win lord Stanley for the 1st time since 1955!! over a cheapshot, delivered by a coward.. and retribution was served on that night in March of 97!!!

according to a poll on NHL.com, 50% of people think Tampa will trade Vinny Lecavalier. 50% of NHL fans are gonna be sorely disappointed

Time for a post-All-Star Game evaluation of the season thus far. Just for fun:

Award winners thus far:

Hart Trophy: Zdeno Chara (Boston Bruins) - it's unconventional, but there's no doubt he's one of the most valuable players to his team in the NHL and he has led the Bruins to a tie for the most points in the NHL right now. He does it all; superb defence, one of the best defensive players in the game, if not THE best, hardest shot in the history of the hardest shot (move over Al Iafrate), very good scoring for a defenceman, including being the quarterback of the Bruins powerplay, and unbelievable leadership (he wears the C deservedly).

Vezina Trophy: Tim Thomas (Boston Bruins) - I swear, I'm not some diehard Bruins fan (I am a diehard Oilers fan), but Thomas has been the best goaltender in the NHL thus far and, again, he has his team tied for the league lead in points. Leads the league in SV%, and is top five in wins and GAA as well.

Norris Trophy: Zdeno Chara (Boston Bruins) - see above.

Calder Trophy: Steve Mason (Columbus Blue Jackets) - this is a no-brainer. There are some good forwards like Kris Versteeg (CHI), Bobby Ryan (ANA), and Blake Wheeler (BOS), but those guys would have to be putting up Teemu Selanne rookie season stats in order to beat out Mason at this point; Mason has a 2.05 GAA (tops in the NHL), a .926 SV% (top five in the NHL), 6 shutouts (tops in the NHL), and he's 17-11-2. He is, without a doubt, the biggest reason why the Blue Jackets are finally contending for a playoff spot.

Jack Adams Award: Claude Julien (Boston Bruins) - I swear again, I have no bias toward the Bruins either way. This is actually a really close call for me; Todd McLellan (SJ), Mike Babcock (DET), Ken Hitchcock (CBJ), Joel Quenneville (CHI), and Brent Sutter (NJ) have all done wonderful jobs coaching their respective teams. I think Julien edges them out because his team has gone from eighth in the East to tied for the most points in the NHL in one season without adding any major superstars; he has youngsters like Phil Kessel, David Krejci, and Blake Wheeler playing amazingly well and learning, his two goalies (Thomas and Manny Fernandez) have both been phenomenal, which is amazing considering they've both been overlooked or forgotten by the NHL in the past few years.

Predictions (revised from my preseason picks):

Eastern Conference:
1. Boston Bruins
2. Washington Capitals
3. Philadelphia Flyers
4. New Jersey Devils
5. Montreal Canadiens
6. New York Rangers
7. Pittsburgh Penguins
8. Florida Panthers

9. Buffalo Sabres
10. Carolina Hurricanes
11. Ottawa Senators
12. Tampa Bay Lightning
13. Toronto Maple Leafs
14. Atlanta Thrashers
15. New York Islanders

Western Conference:
1. San Jose Sharks
2. Detroit Red Wings
3. Calgary Flames
4. Chicago Blackhawks
5. Anaheim Ducks
6. Edmonton Oilers
7. Vancouver Canucks

9. Minnesota Wild
10. Dallas Stars
11. Columbus Blue Jackets
12. Colorado Avalanche
13. Nashville Predators
14. St. Louis Blues
15. Los Angeles Kings

Boston, Washington, Philadelphia, and Montreal advance in the East.

San Jose, Detroit, Edmonton, and Chicago advance in the West.

Edmonton and Chicago meet in the Western Conference Final.

Montreal faces Edmonton in the Stanley Cup Final and Edmonton wins in 7 games.

Man, I love hockey.

Well the all star game was boring as hell. I fell asleep through most the 1st and 2nd period  Did you guys see the crazy circa de solei before the game?

I have a question: During the introductions, why was it that most of the players were already on the ice and then a few got to skate in?

I don't know about that one, there is plenty of time left in the season for Luongo to get on his game. And if Mason continues on as good as he is, he's a definite contender.

i found it to be one of the best all star games i've ever seen :dunno:. anyway, the guys that came out in a group were the reserves and the guys that were introduced one by one were the starters

yeah all the players and most fans thought that this was one of the best all star weekends.... who thinks Forsberg is coming back and where? I say philly if he does....

The rule was brought since the so called all-stars would skip the event. I think it is BS if a player is injured like Crosby and the Detroit Euro that got hurt in the last game before the break is forced to attend the off-ice stuff.
It's Buttman's thinking of promoting a pussified game.

Yeah. Bet he used one of those breakable sticks. When Iafrate set the record of 105.2, he used wood and not a composite thing.

the Discovery Channel show Time Warp had Shawn Thornton on to see if there was a difference between wooden and composite sticks in shot power and strength. they proved there is no difference in power. Chara just has a harder shot than Al did
