I was being tongue-in-cheek. I'm a Blues fan....long-suffering. Slump? Is that what you call it when you have been in the league for 41 years and never won a Stanley Cup?

What a horrible franchise....the Chicago Cubs of the NHL. Except at least the Cubs are trying to build a winner. Checketts and Davidson have done nothing. The Blues suck, plain and simple.

Oh :o

Well, true regarding the Cup but St-Louis was a force in the NHL in the 90s. Along with Colorado, Dallas and Detroit. You just didnt had luck in playoffs 'cause some years, St-Louis were serious contender. The Brett Hull/Adam Oates years.

I haven't watch closely the rebuilding process you are under. Hard times?

Yes. The Blues never left Saint-Louis :)

They are slumping in the past few seasons tho.

Almost became the Saskatoon Blues in the 80's. Which would have been good for a few years until they decided that television contracts mattered...

They have a sick name though.

Tony Kornheiser from Pardon the Interruption said it was the best name for a team in professional sports....if that's any consolation.

I think it's ridiculous to have Henrik Lundqvist on the all-star roster. He's not having a great season ( he just gave up 5 goals on 25 shots to Montreal on wednesday ) , he has a quite unspectacular .908 save % . I think Mike Smith would have been a more deserving candidate even though he doesn't have a lot of wins this year. At least Tim Thomas has been selected. He has been the best goalie in the eastern conference. :2 cents:

How did Luongo get into the All-Star game when he's injured? That I don't get. If they are going to do that, I'm stunned Brodeur didn't get a slot on the East side. Cause, you know, he's the greatest goalie of all time.

Kind of surprised Fleury didn't make it in, too.

tonight the Lightning are at Anaheim. Karri Ramo makes his first start of the season while Smitty rests and in a surprise move, Rick Tocchet has scratched Steven Stamkos to give him more time to practice and train. Rick said this will be an ongoing thing to get Stammer more ready for the game, though he will not be left out in back to back games. Paul Szczechura will be in in place of Stamkos tonight.

I remember many excellent coaches choosing that way to help 18 years old players to develop to their full potential. I guess it put a little less stress on yougsters to perform, giving them a message that they are still in development. Which is very important for potential offensive star players who have the pressure to put up numbers.

Joe Thornton had the same treatment at 18 from Pat Burns at Boston. Pierre-Marc Bouchard from Jacques Lemaire at Minnesota. Or even Phil Kessel under Claude Julien at Boston.

Even some of the greatest players were not physically, mentally ready at 18 to fulfill a high-level NHL performance like Patrice Bergeron (Boston) or Sydney Crosby (Pittsburgh). Allowing Stamkos to develop at the NHL stage and removing pressure from his shoulder is a wise decision from Tocchet in my book

Don't forget it took Vinny a couple of seasons to perform at a high-level, and he had full pressure to perform too... He might have developped earlier if he had the same treatment.

Washington Capitals 4 - Montreal Canadien 5

Wow. Just Wow. What a game!

Washington and Montreal were tie on the win% and the All-Star game assistant coach to Claude Julien was decided tonight. You can imagine how important that game was for Guy Carbonneau to participate to the All-Star game as the game is shown in the city where he is head coach and where he is supported by all french canadians.

At 19:30 in the 3rd period, it was 4-4, 35 shots on goal for each side. A well-fought and fast-paced game, spectacular at times. So there was only 30 seconds left in regulation time when Mike Komisarek got the puck deep in the Habs zone. He passed forward to Roman Hamrlik who, exhausted, was heading to the bench to be replaced... and was not yet in the area to shoot the puck at the Washington's endzone. So instead, Hamrlik saw Sergei Kostitsyn rushing towards Milan Jurcina. Hamrlik lobed the puck so it ended bumping around Milan Jurcina skates - Sergei Kostitsyn took control of the puck and used Jurcina as a screen, shooted and scored... to give the win to the habs with 21 seconds left to the game. Wow!

Sidenote, the game tying goal was scored on Power Play by the Capitals while Sergei Kostitsyn was the penalised Hab player - what a way to redeem himself!

Tomas Plekanec with 2 goals was choosen the 1st star of the game. Notable performance from Andrei Kostitsyn (1g, 1a), Sergei Kostitsyn (1g, 1a) as well as Alexander Semin (2g), Mikael Nylander (1g, 1a) and Mike Green (2a).

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
Well I just got back from the Red Wings game we won for a change! Detroit didn't score until the 3rd period, I was gettin anxious! then finally get one past miller! and I tell ya we didn't get their for puck drop to start the game cuz of the damn shuttles were runnin so slow on a nasty night in Michigan!

So we finally got to our seats about 6 and 1/2 minutes elapsed in the 1st and when I checked the shot total @ the end of the 1st it was 11 to 6 Detroit... no biggie huh,.. well after the game! and grateful that we got the win, the public address anouncer after naming the 3 stars of the game, he was broadcasting the games statistics and he said shots for Detroit 48, buffalo 22 I believe it was! I was 48 shots???

I have to say it didn't seem like they were peppering miller, but I guess they did!! he sure made some great saves!!

I had a great day, my sister (31yrs young) and niece who turned (8) on 12/24/08 enjoyed their 1st game, they both had a great time, my niece got a foam Redwings # 1 foam finger and she was dancing and what not! they also showed her name and birthday on the scoreboard, they gave her a birthday package! it was awesome, she got a redwings lunchbox, a nice size replica banner of the stanley cup banner hanging from the rafters! she got a doctors style redwings scrub shirt, she got an awesome plaque that I didn't get to look @ but it was heavy, it was real glass, and had a metal frame, not some throw away plastic junk trinket!! she got a replica stanley cup ring! and to top it all off she got too shake hands with GORDIE HOWE!! I was like I have been to 35 + games and haven't met any current or former players??? :scream:

and I got a new gun today! and I could have drove my new car home tonight but the weather was so treacherous and the car needs new tires!! so I chose to leave it @ my bro's house!! and now I am here winding down, I still wanna go get a drink and hangout, but nobody wanted to go???

how the hell did this post get so long??? anyway that was my day / night! :D

Corrections, Wrong, while watching the game again on DVR, I noticed I was ummm... maybe a little buzzed! After the 1st period the shot totals on the TV broadcast read Detroit shots 13 not 11!! and buffalo 6!

and it sure seemed like it took until the 3rd period to tie the score, but Hudler scored @ the 17 minute mark of the 2nd period!! Miller was playing great! I accidentally gave miller a couple xtra minutes cuz it seemed like forever before they tied the score!!

and something funny happened after the game, we finally caught a shuttle bus to get us close to where we parked, so anyway it was a huge bus, and it was a little rowdy and in the celebrating mood since we won...

so anyway the bus had the music cranked everybodies enjoying the ride!! and viola the bus driver side swipes a luxury shuttle sedan that was to the right of us, the bus was turning left and obviously didn't go far enough forward to complete the turn to clear his back end!! atleast thats the way it was explained to me cuz I was in the back left side of the bus, and all I felt was the bus jolt, run up on the curb, thump... bounce, pothole, more curb... more bouncing..:rofl2:

Immediatelly the bus driver stopped for a minute to make sure nobody was hurt, then he told the dude who's car he side swiped and removed his mirror!! sorry, just bill the bar!! they'll take care of it!! it was a restaurant / bars shuttle bus!! so that was hilarious!! sucked for both of the drivers, both the bus and the car, but for us the passengers it was pretty funny since nobody got hurt!! and finally thats my 2 corrections and the forgotten hilarious ride back to our vehicle!!:hatsoff:

There is a trade rumor about Vincent Lecavalier to Montreal right now....

http://habsinsideout.com/otherwing/ericengels/13623

All I can say is that it would be the stupidest move ever made if by a team if Tampa really goes through with it . I would definitely stop being a Lightning fan for sure. Also if that happens , I predict the Lightning move away from Tampa within the next 4 years.

:dunno: That's stupid, he's the star player, the guy the team is built around. Take him away and you don't really have a player to turn the fans onto (Save maybe St. Louis or Prospal). That would be one of the dumbest trades in NHL history, especially since the Lightning would not be getting Koivu or anyone in return.
