Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
I can't wait for the new season to start; when theirs no hockey on; and its only baseball in the summer; I hardly watch TV!! I am eager to see how the other teams turn out after making so many dramatic aquisitions; I am sure Detroit will be as dominating as they were last year..

I want too see if anahiem; san jose; dallas made enough improvements to get past the redwings this coming year?? I know detroit can't and won't win the cup every year but they have a better team now since they signed marian hossa than the team that just won the cup!! very excited.. can't wait!!

so long as we don't rid ourselves of Marty St. Louis. i know it probably won't happen, but i just can't help but think anything could after they traded Boyle (Quote by Mauser in the 2007-2008 nhl thread )

Don't worry , the new owners love the chemistry between Vincent Lecavalier and Marty , they also want to make Lecavalier happy so they won't trade away his best buddy on the team . The fact that they got Vaclav Prospal back is another sign that Marty isn't going anywhere . Boyle wasn't untouchable , he's a great defenceman but the move had to be made to free some cap space and the Lightning really got a good deal from SJ . Anyway , I can't wait for the new season to start to see the Bolts win their division and maybe go far in the playoffs . :nanner:

you've been right about everything else so far, so i'll trust what you say ;)

Go Blue Jackets. They have made a big splash thus far plus they resigned Hitchcock. Only going up from here fellas.

Being a Bruins fan, I'm pumped about Ryder going there. They had a great season under Julien and the new system last season, so I hope they can get even stronger with great aquisitions like that....

TBL aquisition of Brandon Bochenski could be a good deal...I liked him in Boston, even though he was there a short time.

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed free agent center Zenon Konopka to a two-year contract today, owners Oren Koules and Len Barrie announced.

Zenon Kanopka. that may just rival Branko Radivojevic for the best name in hockey ;)

Tampa GM Jay Feaster has stepped down from his position:

TAMPA BAY – Tampa Bay Lightning Executive Vice President and General Manager Jay Feaster submitted his resignation this afternoon, effective immediately, Lightning owners Oren Koules and Len Barrie announced. Feaster had been the team’s general manager since being promoted to the position by team President Ron Campbell during the 2001-02 season. His Lightning teams made four post-season appearances, won two Southeast Division championships and a Stanley Cup (2004) in his six years as general manager.

“For the past two weeks I have watched from the sidelines as Brian Lawton, Len Barrie and Oren Koules executed to perfection the game-plan they shared with us prior to the NHL Draft in Ottawa. During that time it became apparent to me that this new ownership group did not need my advice or expertise, and I came to the conclusion that it was time to move on. When I expressed that sentiment to Oren and Len they immediately agreed to honor my contract and accept my resignation. I thank them for working with me through a difficult time and I wish them every continued success.”

“I want to thank Mr. Davidson for giving me the chance to manage his hockey team for the past six seasons, and I want to especially thank Ron Campbell. Like Bruce McKinney did 12 years earlier in Hershey in the American Hockey League, Ron believed in me when no one else did. Even as those around him questioned his judgment and wanted to look elsewhere for a GM, Ron stuck with me. He was, in my opinion, the unsung hero of our 2004 Stanley Cup Championship and our success through the years. I thank him deeply for his unwavering support. Finally, I want to thank our great fans who make it possible for all of us to enjoy working in this great game!”

Feaster joined the Lightning as assistant general manager on October 20, 1998, and held that position for nearly three-and-a-half years before being elevated to the GM role on February 10, 2002. The fourth general manager in the team’s history, he guided the Lightning for five full seasons (in addition to the 2004-05 lockout season), making the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs four times. His teams posted 207 wins and compiled a .547 winning percentage – both franchise bests for a GM – while winning division titles in 2002-03 and 2003-04. Feaster was named the NHL Executive of the Year by The Sporting News in a vote of his peers following the 2003-04 Stanley Cup Championship season.

“We thank Jay very much for his service to the Lightning organization and the Tampa Bay community,” said Koules and Barrie. “He built a great foundation for this franchise, highlighted of course by the great Stanley Cup victory in 2004. He has been nothing but the ultimate professional through the process of our ownership transition and we wish he and his family the very best moving forward.”

Before joining the Lightning as assistant general manager under Jacques Demers in 1998, Feaster was one of the leading administrators in the AHL, having worked for the Hershey Bears for nine years. While in Hershey, he won a Calder Cup and was named the AHL Executive of the Year in 1997.

Jay is a class act and a great GM despite what some people might say about him . The only mistake he made was to sign Brad Richards to a much too big contract and as for the trade of Freddie Modin for Marc denis , who could have predicted it would turn out that way . Jay helped enormously in building the stanley cup winning team of 2003-2004 and I wish him the best of luck with the rest of his carreer .

Red Wings Flight Schedule: The Upcoming Season:

--Little Caesar's for everybody! Owner Mike Illitch is chomping at the facemask in anticipation of this season, by calling up virtually every player he sent to Grand Rapids in the last four months. Says Swedish defenseman Johnathan Ericsson: "Jag er uppeggad omkring den ny sasong!" :dunno:
--The Detroiters also signed talented left-winger Justin Abdelkater to a three-year deal. Picked 42nd in the 2005 draft, Abs has been planned to be an enforcer. Just look at his penalty minutes at Michigan State! :fight:
--Center Pavel Datsyuk will return in fine shape even though he is the ripe old hockey age of 29. Pav scored 10 goals in the playoffs last season, and returns this season with over half his teeth.
--Even without the presence of the legend that is Dominik Hasek, Goalie Chris Osgood plans on one memorable season. Says Osgood: "I may be 35 years old, but I feel like I'm a spritely young 32."
--The RedWings open their what-the-hell-does-it-matter preseason against Montreal on Sept. 24th.

and now for the best news for Tampa fans, Vinnie Lecavalier has signed an 11 year $85 million contract extension. he's a Bolt for life.

Go Oilers!!!! No other NHL city has ever gone as crazy as Edmonton did when they went to the Cup Finals in 2005. Trust me, I was there. It's not like Carolina or Tampa Bay, where they have to GIVE tickets away during the Finals, disgraceful. At least Detroit is a city that loves their hockey enough to deserve the Cup, but did they have to sign Hossa, I mean, come on, let the rest of us at least have a chance. I smell repeat, unless something huge happens. The Red Wings are clearly just better than everyone else though.
