Yeah, but what I'm saying guys is it will diminish the talent pool in the NHL if we lose too many Eastern European players.

Eventually it could. It sucked when Jagr left. But we will have to see. American puck is just getting bigger and bigger, evident by our showing at the Games this year.

True, But I'd **** to lose the international mix of the sport. Its one more thing that sets the NHL apart, even from the NBA.

A friend tells me Kovy is about to sign a $60 million 7 year contract with the Devils.

That deal surprises me. The Islanders were prepared to give him ten million a season.

Well then Kovalchuk and his agent were just bullshitin' us the whole time by spreading these rumors and gossip that he's going to make X dollars at such and such place.

Jesus. They say the cause?

this is all i know:

Former NHL forward Bob Probert has died after collapsing in a boat on Lake St. Clair Monday afternoon, OPP spokeswoman Shawna Coulter confirmed.

Emergency crews performed CPR on the former Red Wings player on shore and transported the 45-year-old to Windsor Regional Hospital.

The Probert ****** has called a 6 p.m. news conference at Windsor Regional Hospital to issue a statement.

Probert spent all of his 16 NHL seasons with the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks, and amassed 3300 penalty minutes in 935 games.

Last fall, he appeared on the CBC series Battle of the Blades. He and partner Kristina Lenko were eliminated in the first week of the program.

Ya gotta wonder if it was a brain injury they never found. The man was a fighting machine.

At the risk of making a Chris Benoit joke, I am just going to shut up and not comment on whether or not it was due to concussions/brain injury/whatever.

Probie was probably the toughest *** of a bitch I ever saw play. The man had a great hands for someone who could fight like he could. For sure one of the most popular Red Wings during the late 80's early 90's.

Kovalchuk agrees to return to the Devils.

also hearing that TB is interested in Simon Gagne. i'd like him but am afraid of what we'd have to give up to get him...

Good for the Devils I would have much rather seeing him go to the Kings and out of th east. As far Gagne goes you are right we probably will have to give alot up for him in hopes that he does not get hurt I am not sure if it worth the risk what is your opinion?
