There were reports for a bit that an unnamed person attempted to buy the Sabres before the current guy did; offered upwards of two hundred million on the basis he could move the team. Pretty obvious who it was if they're true. forty years in Pittsburgh, Buffalo and St. Louis be damned, because apparently Hamilton deserves a team over all of them.

Pretty much positive the commish is on record stating something along the lines that the "original six" will never be allowed to move. That sort of stability sets the league apart from other "major" sports' leagues.

Not really. First of all, the Canadiens were pretty close to being relocated about a decade ago. Second of all, how is it any different for the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Packers, Steelers, New York Giants, Lakers (even though they moved from Minneapolis to Los Angeles), Knicks, Celtics, et cetera? Any team with that kind of history is "stable" in any major sports league, even a team that's gone over 100 years without winning a championship 1orglaugh, the Cubs).

I'm just relaying what that POS Bettman said. Like I said I paraphrased but it was clear to me that he said the original six likely will never move.

About those other sports and all these teams - yeah, they have good fan support but my point was the NHL has a bit more of a foundation. The NFL didn't merge with the other league 'til the 60s; baseball of course does have the two most hated teams in the world - the Yankees and Red Sox - as a pretty good foundation, and basketball, well I'm not sure about basketball except to say the Lakers and Celtics to me are the most grounded, and the former team like you said had moved.

Malone and Downie are both expected back late this month or early next month

Don't know how many caught the WCHA championship but it was a good one. Double OT W by those traitors the Fighting Sioux from SD. Of course, their leading scorer Matt Frattin leads the nation in goals and he's a Canadian. Blasphemy!
