it is confirmed Tampa sends a 3rd round pick and Brock Beukeboom to St. Louis for Eric Brewer who waived his No Trade Clause to go to Tampa.

nice pick up for Tampa. we got the D-man we were looking for and needed. a good price too

Again a very good move by Steve Yzerman. I really admire how he says something and sticks with it , He said he didn't want to trade the bolts first and second round picks and he's doing what he said. he knows how to build up a great team without compromising the future or the present.

So I wrote another article on Bleacher Report, this time on relocation to Canada. Take a look (I mention the Lightning... ;))

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...re-canadian-hockey-fans-a-bunch-of-hypocrites

Now I know your name, Dylan Robertson...:D

Well written (aside from a few grammar mistakes [I think]:D). Nah, it was a good article, and I read the whole thing. :)

I don't think you loathe Winnipeg as much as I have suspected you. Then again, you're in Saskatoon. ;)

Thanks, glad to hear some people liked it. The Winnipeg fans are eating me alive in the comments section, it's hilarious.

I don't hate Winnipeg at all, aside from the fact that it is in Manitoba and Saskatchewan is obviously better in every aspect. I'd like to see the Jets back, but I've just gotten tired of these Canadian-nationalist hockey fans who hate every American team and want to see every team in the south move to places like Saskatoon and Halifax. Makes no sense.

Tampa still can't beat bad teams, our Power Play is still thoroughly useless and Stamkos is still not scoring. i'm getting really sick of this.

The sad thing is that it takes fans losing their franchises in order to realize what they have. Same thing happened with the Stars; only a year before they moved they were only pulling a few thousand a game, and only after just making it to the Stanley Cup finals. If that wasn't a mystery. The only explenation is that the state is wholly a hockey state - from the time kids can skate folks are enjoying the game.

When the Wild arrived, They sold every seat for the first decade.

We had to know Stamkos was going to come back down to earth. Still shows enormous potential and will likely win the scoring title.

Sadly the Bruins sent Marc Stuart to the Thrashers, but I will not miss Blake Wheeler. However the acquisition of Kaberle shall be interesting.

K, tonnes of moves recently. I have to comment on some of them:

The acquisition of Eric Brewer by the Lightning was a brilliant move; they are probably a top three team in the East now along with Philadelphia and Boston, although I still think Philadelphia is way too damn good not to make it to the Stanley Cup Finals, but I can definitely see the Lightning making an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The acquisition of Tomáš Kaberle by the Bruins was a good move; they're still not nearly as deep as Philadelphia, but seeing Kaberle set up Chara for one-timers on the powerplay against Ottawa was something to behold and will probably be a lethal combination for the Bruins. (And Toronto got something good out of the deal, for once).

The trade sending Erik Johnson and Jay McClement to Colorado for Chris Stewart and Kevin Shattenkirk was really surprising to me. Johnson was the Blues' #1 overall pick and is a great defensive defenceman with a bright future. Chris Stewart is a great forward, but the Blues are stacked with great young forwards, so I don't see why they would trade away a really great defenceman like that, especially after having traded away Brewer.

Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart from Boston to Atlanta for Rich Peverley and Boris Valábik seems like a wash, to me.

Ian White to the Sharks is irrelevant. That team is not going to win a Cup.

The dumbest move I've seen so far has been Colorado sending Craig Anderson to Ottawa for Brian Elliott. Both goaltenders are slumping, sure, but Anderson is awesome and Elliott is awful. Elliott has always been awful. Anderson, for good measure, recorded a 47-save shutout (that went to the shootout) against the Maple Leafs yesterday in his first game with the Sens.

One final note, Sheldon Souray was placed on re-entry waivers by the Oilers yesterday. I doubt he will be picked up (although I hope that he is); the Oilers are just trying to get rid of him. He hasn't been very good with the Hershey Bears in the AHL and there are some major question marks surrounding his skating ability. Hopefully a team looking for a final push heading into the postseason takes a bite and claims him, but I doubt it.

I don't understand that much at all. Thought Johnson was going to be the next Pronger of St. Louis, and voila, now he's gone.

Add me to the list of people who didn't see the Eric Johnson trade coming. I would have thought a "rebuilding" team like St. Louis would have wanted to keep him at all costs.

Lightning 8, Coyotes 3

Lecavalier with a 5 point night, Purcell with a hat trick

but i must say, the coolest thing about this game was the 3 Iwo Jima veterans dropping the ceremonial puck and getting a standing ovation.

Just goes to show how much of an impact Bryz has when he is in net for the Coyotes. Horrible game.

The most interesting part for me is that Ellis is gone ! :nanner:

Anaheim won that trade. If you're looking for a guy who can stop pucks and inspire confidence on a nightly basis, McElhinney really isn't the person you're looking for (which is unfortunate to say because for a few years he was one of the only members of the Flames that I liked).
