That's a tragedy. Gerber was an outstanding goalie. Without him in goal the Swiss team will be at a huge disadvantage in Vancouver.
It is of course tragic, I agree, but I think you're forgetting that the Swiss have a goaltender who is 349573498573498573749 times better than Martin Gerber in Jonas Hiller.

Hiller's history in international play is the Spengler Cup. Meanwhile, Gerber has played in the Olympics and World Championships. Remember he is the one that shut out Canada at the last Olympics.
Gerber had international experience as a Swiss goaltender that is only matched by Aebischer. He might not get the start, but I'm sure he would have been able to teach Hiller more than a few things.

Florida hockey simply makes no sense.
Neither teams are really anything to be proud of, which is a shame for both given the talent, but there is no way I would have seen the Panthers game tonight going as one-sided as it was. Where is this Florida team every game?

What have you done for me lately? Gerber was in the KHL and not the NHL for a reason: he stinks (not that the KHL stinks, but when you go from the NHL to the KHL 99.9% of the time it's because no one in the NHL wants you anymore because you suck). You make valid points that he has more experience, and I remember that shutout far too well (49 saves!), but Hiller is so much better, we're talking about a guy who took the starting job in Anaheim away from J-S Giguere, a former Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup winner (separate years), and he earned it by playing well. Gerber couldn't even maintain the starting job in Ottawa or Toronto, I mean, come on, he wouldn't have played one single minute of one single game at the Olympics.
As a positive side note, doctors in Russia are now saying that the injury is not as serious or career-threatening as they originally thought.
The last time Tanguay was a healthy scratch , it worked and made him play better but it didn't last long. I think he's going to be traded before long.

DirecTv did away with Versus, those greedy money grubbing sleeze bags. I don't get many games anymore, aside from the Wild, which have been a fun team to watch over the last dozen games or so.
That's the only good thing about last night's game.

The bolts are trailing detroit 3-0 right now , I think they will have at least the second pick in the draft again 
, I really don't get why they suck like that... It seems like even if they had the best team in the NHL on paper they would still suck. Is it the coach ? Is it that the players don't give their 100 % ? I have absolutely no idea what is wrong with them. I'm extremely tired of seeing them losing like that.

Funny story. I was on NHL.com and I was looking at the scores, and for a second I thought the score was 6-1 for Tampa.

i agree. the whole team is just...bad. there's no reason evident. they just aren't playing (well)
