NHL '09/'10 Season Thread

no shit
i agree friend, when you see goalies like giguere or hiller damn near steal a whole series, you always wonder how unbeatable they would be with a team like the wings in front of them

this guy ....wow...are you that diluted to think a goalie like kiprusoff or thomas wouldnt make a difference?????

fuckin haters ....where did i throw anybody under the bus?????

sick of dudes flyin off the handle at every comment...it helps if you have an open mind

I have an open mind. I'm a huge Wings fan, definitely not "a hater" Where were Kipper and Thomas in the playoffs? Last I saw they were notorious chokers. How many times has Osgood outplayed Kipper? And you still think Kipper would be better?

Do I think Kipper or Thomas would make a difference? Yup. Detroit wouldn't have been in the Finals with those guys in net.

And who are you throwing under the bus? Uhm. I don't know. The goalie that won you two Stanley cups and helped bring you to the Finals two years in a row? You guarantee that goalies like Kipper, Thomas, Toskala would bring a cup to Motown. Sounds to me like you are blaming goaltending for Detroit's loss. But Toskala? Seriously? He can't keep his job in Toronto and you think he'd guarantee a cup in Detroit? Why don't we trade for J.S Aubin too. Or maybe try and get Mike Smith.

Thomas and Kipper both have STACKED teams, and where were they while Osgood was slowly climbing the record books these past two years?

Maybe if Hossa could score a couple goals Detroit would have another cup. Let's dream about getting a forward who doesn't choke when the pressure is on instead of replacing one of the top playoff goalies in the game.

seriously dude...shouldnt you be posting this in last years thread?
i never guaranteed anything...damn near guarantee
ozzy was running up the record books because of his team
kipper and thomas dont have half the team in front of them as ozzy does
you honestly think that asgood is as good as kiprusoff? or thomas? i love ozzy but im not an idiot either...hes good and a solid goalie but the goalies named in the previous posts are better than good...

yes i do agree about hossa and i doubt he will be back......

kipper and thomas dont have half the team in front of them as ozzy does

Iginla, Camellari, Phaneuf, Ragehr, Jokinen, Langkow, Aucoin, Leopold, Sarich?

Axelson, Bergeron, Kessel, Chara, Kobasew, Lucic, Recchi, Savard, Ryder, Wheeler, Stuart, Wideman, Hnidy?

Ya those aren't very good teams. If Thomas and Kipper had better teams they'd be lifting Stanley Cups.

Remember when Detroit replaced Osgood with then "stud" goalie Curtis Joseph? How'd that go?

You can't just throw an all star on a team and expect success. That's what makes Detroit good.

lmfao remember when they brought in vernon=cup
lmfao remember when they brought in hasek=cup

wow you can write players names in a list but compare those names to what detroit has,its not even fair to compare the teams to the 4 solid lines detroit has.

cujo was and still is washed up and hasnt been a top 5 goalie since he played for st. louis

So what is the difference between Cujo and Kipper?

All I'm saying is Osgood is a better fit in Detroit than Kipper or Thomas would be.

jeez i was just making a point and you guys are getting ready to throw down over this...lol...ozzy has a great record and is a top 10-15 goaltender...but if you didnt see a couple softies go in then please get your eyes checked....no doubt in my books that detroit has the best team, best coach, best system, but goaltending is something that could be improoved upon...if you believe otherwise then go on and believe that...you wont convince anyone otherwise

Keep Ozzie in the net. It is time however to start thinking about who's going to eventually replace him. His style fits in perfectly with the Wings. I don't see Conklin as a full time starter and I haven't seen enough of Howard to really judge him.

From what I've heard Howard has slipped below Daniel Larrson On the depth chart. The front office isn't liking what they are seeing from him. Larrson will be getting looks soon I think.

Larsson will definitly play in the NHL next season.
I have been following him since he was 18 and he gets better every year.

finally this settles in a real good conversation! hate it when people pissing each other off, just because they think their oppinion is the right one...
as for the flames, i wouldnt wanna change kipper for any other nhl goalie... but i´d loved to see a mire experienced D, with less individual errors (of which we had a lot last year)
playoff time is just not flames-time... dont know what it is, but i wont give kipper all the blame for it!
would be nice to see a new young goalie between detroits posts, one they developed on their own. but i´m way to far away from that franchise to make a good comment on that...

hell no...i dont think anybody in their right mind would put any blame on kiprusoff...hell that series against detroit a few years ago, he was making 50-60 saves per game....damn near did it all by himself

Here, in Montreal, we have a new coach (Jacques Martin), a new owner (the Molson brothers) and... we might have a new team as well:

RFA

Matt D'Agostini
Chris Higgins
Guillaume Latendresse
Tomas Plekanec

UFA:

Francis Bouillon
Patrice Brisebois
Mathieu Dandenault
Saku Koivu
Mike Komisarek
Tom Kostopoulos
Alex Kovalev
Robert Lang
Mathieu Schneider
Alex Tanguay

Andrew Peters of the Sabres will test the free agent market

hahaha! lets start the bidding at $1 any takers?

I think the Wings should go after Biron

I have a feeling the Wings will make an offer for Biron.

Bouwmeester will end up in Toronto.

Toronto will get Tavares. Somehow. I hear the Islanders are looking at Duchene right now. :dunno:

I wonder what Gaborik is going to do? Or Sundin?
