NHL '09/'10 Season Thread

Team Canada has invited 46 players to their Olympic camp:

Some surprising invitees, but none of the players I really want to see on the team weren't invited, so I'm pretty happy with it.

P.S. Look at the goalies invited! Watch out world, you may not be able to put the puck in the net against these guys.

Rob Scuderi to LA

nice pick for LA... finally they´ve got something out of the FA-market...
who knows, maybe they´ll go for heatley, too?!? for now, they are the last possible team he would like to go, as far as the "wish-list" is true: "Sun Media reported the New York Rangers, San Jose, Boston, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Detroit, Calgary and Chicago were on the list [heatley´s wish list where to go]"
LA could need a winger like him. and i´m sure, after all what happened, many people in ottawa will be glad seeing him leave the town :ban:

Gomez - overpaid for sure...I think he can still be good, but if he doesn't produce MTL fans will rip him apart

Cammalleri- see above Gomez...alright that might be a little too harsh to say just yet but they guy had one breakout year and now he's getting $6 mil

Khabibulin - great deal.

Hossa - I kind of laughed at this deal at first because I was hard on him for signing that 1 year contract with the defending cup champs and turns around and does the exact opposite with Chicago. But apparently Detroit only offered him something like $3.75 mil a year which is pretty much an insult

Gaborik - Now this is a player I reallllly wanted the Sens to get. I think he's really underrated because he's always injured but this guy has talent. The Rangers took a pretty big risk signing him for that much but if you think about it, they pretty much traded Gomez for Gaborik which is an AMAZING deal

All in all I think a lot of people got overpaid.

As for the Heatley situation...

Let me ask some of you guys, would you want to have Heatley on your team? I think he really ruined his reputation with the shit he pulled with the Senators and the Oilers.

I'd love Heatley in L.A or Detroit. But not for what Ottawa is asking.

Haha what are they asking for?

They almost did a pretty rediculous trade with the Oilers. One prospect, one overpaid player and one unproven defencemen for a guy who scored 180 goals in 4 seasons....

Murray just wants a little something back. Not a rediculous trade like Zherdev and Rosival for Heatley.

How about this one....Brad Richards for Heatley...

Fedotenko re-ups with the Penguins.

i'll be honest. i was kinda hoping he'd return to TB. oh well. let's find that back up goalie now...

Straight up? Thats crazy.

Heatley was invited to Canada's Olympic camp...Richards wasn't...

Heatley has averaged more than a point a game for his playoff career....Richards is a former Conn Smyth winner...

Not too crazy.

A perennial 40 goal scorer for a guy who won a Conne Smythe 5 years ago. He's not near the player Heatley is. Mike Ribiero, a 1st round pick and Fabian Brunnstrom maybe.

I thought you meant it would be crazy on Dallas' behalf.

Right now a lot of people don't want a guy like Heatley on their team. We would have to trade him for a less skilled player with similar contract numbers.

I would be happy with Richards...he's a playoff type guy that you need on your team.

If you have any other realistic scenerios let's hear em.

Gagne...Doan (Heatley won't want to go to Phoenix)...Sharp....

Can't really think of any fair deals really...

Wooooooooooop. Kings get Ryan Smyth from Colorado for Kyle Quincey, Tom Preissing and a 5th round pick next year.

Scuderi and Smyth to go along with Kopitar, Frolov, Doughty, Johnson, Brown and Stoll. Things are looking up in L.A.

whaaaaaaat
looks like there is something going in la... could be an equal season like columbus had last season, if they just had a goalie who could carry them...
at least, finally LA looks like a competitive nhl-team again  good thing for the pacific division
