Coyotes to move back to Winnipeg?

[excerpt:]The situation in Glendale remains fluid; if the city does not agree to the league's conditions, it is possible the NHL will instead move quickly to finalize a purchase agreement with Canadian billionaire David Thomson and move the team to Winnipeg. Sources tell ESPN.com there is a purchase agreement ready if the Glendale situation disintegrates.


Daly would not comment to The Associated Press on reports about Reinsdorf's deal or a potential move to Winnipeg.

However, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press that as of Friday, Reinsdorf was still in the mix. The individual requested anonymity because that information had not been authorized for release.


If the Coyotes end up moving to Winnipeg, it's unlikely the current tenants of the arena there, the AHL Manitoba Moose, could remain. There is a possibility Ice Edge would be interested in moving the AHL franchise to Thunder Bay, Ontario, where a number of executives are from.



"Ice Edge remains committed to our stated long-term goal of someday bringing professional hockey to Thunder Bay, however at this point in time it remains simply that, a long-term goal," LeBlanc said.

It's funny that, from my recolection, I liked Thunder Bay better than Winnipeg in some ways even though it pales in comparison in size (maybe even in night life and stuff like that). This is interesting. To be continued...

I read this today and thought it was pretty funny:

Gary Bettman comes home from a long day, he relaxes in his lazy-boy and starts to nod off. Shortly he is awakened by a whimpering sound coming from the other room.

"Come here little fella" Gary calls, seconds later Lil' Sindy Crosby emerges in his Pittsburgh Penguin Ones-y dragging his Opus stuffed penguin by it's left foot in one hand while tightly grasping his black and yellow sippy cup in the other.

Gary can see that the boy has been crying(as usual) and motions him onto his lap. Lil' Sindy snuggles into the nook of Gary' arm and puts his head on Gary' shoulder. "What's wrong this time?" Gary says while pretending not to know already.

"Uncle Gary you told me we would win this series and another cup" Lil' Sindy starts bawling. "Ssshhhh" Gary whispers "everything is going according to plan". "You can't expect to win every game do you?" Gary says while trying to hide his smile. "YYYEESSSS" Lil' Sindy cries out. "I expect it!"

"Now now, you really don't want that to happen, that would really put the pressure on me seeing that your my nephew and all. People would think it was favoritism." As expected Lil' Sindy cries out "I don't care, you promised."

"Ok little one, I just had to make it look good with the Habs winning at least 2 games....don't worry, I will personally see to it that you are in the Finals for the next 5 years." Gary says while patting Lil' Sindy on the head.

"I want to be there at least the next 7" Lil Sindy exclaimed

"Alright then" Gary puts Lil' Sindy down on the floor and gives the child a kiss on the forehead. "See you tomorrow my little champion"

"Nighty Night Uncle Gary" Lil' Sindy says as he sleepily trudges off to bed. Tucked tightly into his Igloo shaped bed and Super Mario sheets Lil' Sindy falls fast asleep while visions of "guaranteed" Stanley Cups dance in his head.

You know, not every Vancouver loss results in the city being burnt down. They lost last year and I'm pretty sure that the city is still there...

Now, if we lose to the Blackhawks two years in a row, I can't say for certain that Chicago will be there by the time the Sharks come to town.
