Ok, so Vick is better now, like Elway and Young. Cool. :dunno: He's always been a game changer, but he sucked as a QB in ATL. I don't get why you're trying to convince anybody.

You are totally free not to respond to my post if you 'don't get it'.

As a former football player just sometimes get tired of the internet/stat geeks who THINK they know who can play ball or not. Just pointed out the fact that statistically(since geeks obssess over stats) that 'statistically' he was better than early Young or Elway.

Vick made the NFL pro bowl on 3 or 4? occasions in 6 seasons in Atlanta of all places(only 4 full seasons), signed the most lucrative deal in NFL history ($130 million plus), but some guy on a porn forum says he was not a good QB:facepalm:(I've never said he was 'great' in Atl)

Not being a "TRADITIONAL" feet of stone QB(like Manning) is totally different from not being a good one.

Obviously he learned to play ball(QB) the 2 years in jail when he wasn't allowed to touch a football.:dunno:

3000 yds passing plus 1000 rushing in a single season is the sure sign of QB ineptness.

Just find it funny how the Vick threads/talk(had several threads dedicated to him once ) were everywhere now people casually want to avoid the subject.:)

Vick was another slacker ...Palmer was too but at least Palmer was/is doing the basics. Vick wasn't even doing that by his own admission.

As best I can tell he was just out there winging it between partying until prison made him realize the opportunity he had and the effort that was necessary to take advantage of it.

Vick teammates loved him in ATl & if they thought he was 'lazy' they would have less than flattering things to say about him.

Vick is going through this self introspection(that all 30 something men go through) thing since his jail time & wonders 'what if ' he had came to practice 30-45 minutes early & left 45 minutes to 1 hour later.:dunno: 'I probably could have been a better QB'. Bull Fucking Shit. :dunno:

'He was what he was' & no matter how much film he watched he was gonna bolt like a spooked Deer when the pressure came(just like in pee wee League, Jr High, High Schoool & College) because that's what he was comfortable/confident doing.

"Could I have been better if I stayed a few minutes/ hours later?" No.

'He was what he was' & he ran like a fucking Deer under intense pressure in pee wee ball , Jr High, High School & College. Watching a few more NFL tapes would not convince him that he should risk getting drilled by a blitzing linebacker & Defensive lineman trusting/waiting for his 4th option reciever to get open.
(Players like Mannning have no other option but to wait on a 4th option WR to get free because he can not run)..

Vick ran a sub 4.3 40 yd dash & he always trusted his legs more than standing under pressure waitng for 3rd/4th options like the Hank Basketts/ Jason Avants of the world to get open. Period.

Dwayne Wade & Lebron James are having the exact same struggles adjusting their game to accomodate their new star teammates when they have only known how to play a certain way since Jr High,High School,College(Wade) & 14 years between them in the NBA.

There is a reason 'running' Qb's with the exeption of a hand full of guys in its entire history have trouble in the NFL.

It's hard to change a man's style from the only way he knows how to play the game. Staying a few extra minutes after practice cannot change you. Vick will never stand tall in the pocket like MAnning, but as he ages he is learning to use his legs a bit more to' buy time/ than simply ALWAYS bolt like a DEER.

Ask Dwayne Wade & Lebron(who are redundant talents) why they are struggling to play with one another. Because they, like Vick , are asked to change their game & that is not easy to do.

No matter how many films you watch or hours you stay after practice.

girk1, they're Vick's words not mine.:dunno:

Now you can probably debate him on what he was but I wouldn't advise it.:o
Michael Vick told an Atlanta radio station Wednesday that he has lots of regrets from his days with the Falcons — and those regrets go beyond his involvement in dog fighting.

Vick says he’s also sorry that he didn’t work hard enough at becoming the quarterback the Falcons needed him to be.

“There was a lot more I could have done off the field and in the film room that could have elevated my game to a different level,” Vick said on 790 The Zone, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I was complacent at the time, somewhat lazy, and I settled for mediocrity. I thought what I was doing was enough.”

Vick said that in 2010 — where ever he’s playing — he’ll be a much more dedicated quarterback, and that he expects to be a better player in his 30s than he was in his 20s.

“I want to play my best football up until the age of 34 and 35, and I’m going to put everything into it,” Vick said. “Just imagine what I could have been doing if I really would have been applying myself. That’s a regret I have.”

Beau Brady waited until the second half for his Thanksgiving dinner, feasting on Lion weaknesses for the big win. While N.O. looks good, Cowboy mistakes have overshadowed Kitna's obvious attempts at leadership in this game. 20-6 at half. Congrats to Buehler.

Detroit hasn't won a Turkey Day game in seven years...plus they haven't lost by fewer than eleven points in them. New England--drop the points.

New Orleans has Shockey ready, along with safeties Jenkins and Sharper. If Bush is ready as well, they look pretty good, especially since the team has turned it around. But Kitna is rolling, as is the running game and D. Close one. Edge to New Orleans in their first Gobbler Bowl.

Never bet against a streak. The Bengals have disappointed seven straight now, and Palmer looks like a flood victim out there. The Jets are riding a series of nail-biters against inferior teams. But Sanchez is the next Namath--like it or not--and it's time for a lopsided win. New York will get one today.

My God, psychic-ass muthafucka.

Who are these stat geeks you keep referring to? You're the one saying he was "statistically" better than whoever. All I said was, his QB skills were weak in ATL. Which they were. Especially compared to how he's playing now. He didn't make the pro bowl because of those 3000 yards passing seasons. He made the pro bowl because he shred defenses on the ground. And now you're pulling the "I am a former football player, so listen to what I say" card? :1orglaugh Whatever dude.

Let's simplify this.

In Atlanta, Vick was a mediocre QB who made up for it with his running ability.

In Philadelphia, Vick is a very good QB who can also make plays with his running ability.

Better?

:horse:

Patriots/Lions?

One thing I can say is, I'm glad they never game the T-giving day game away. Like Madden said, when no other teams wanted it, the Lions always took it so the tradition should remain.

That said, at least Lions fans have something to look forward to every year, eh. It's kinda like their very own Superbowl every year. :1orglaugh

You know what the best part about the Lions always playing on Thanksgiving is for me? It's the fact the television broadcast the weekend after it will actually be guaranteed of a couple of game that don't have the Lions in them. While an area always playing the games of the team within might be good for everybody else, for a non-Lions fan that has to live where I do it means I sometimes will only get that or one other football game to watch. Try going through that for the last 8 years. Sometimes even the game they are in is blacked out and all I get is a infomerical to replace it.

Well let's face, my god was that an awful performance by them the second half. Really shitty.

Lions played a good first half yesterday. The displayed good potential. In a couple years, they should be solid if Stafford ever plays 16 games and Calvin Johnson will continue to get better.

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
Using the NFL's infinite wisdom, they will probably move the annual T-day Detroit game to Charlotte and feature the hapless Panthers for a few years.

Move it to Cleveland, maybe they will quit bitching about all the shitty pro teams they have (except for TOSU)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a big game against the Ravens Sunday. Who thinks the Bucs can pull it off and get the win? GO BUCS!!!

Love to see the Buccaneers win. But I picked Atlanta to win the division...:crying:

Actually, I think all 3 could get in. I'm not sure Chicago and New York are all that much better than Tampa Bay.

Have 3 teams from a single division made the playoffs before?

Tampa Bay (7-3) has Baltimore, New Orleans, Atlanta, Washington, Seattle and Detroit left. All 3 losses have come to playoff bound teams and haven't beaten anybody above .500. I think they'll finish 9-7, maybe even 8-8.

Chicago (7-3) has Philadelphia, Detroit, New England, New York Jets, Minnesota and Green Bay remaining. Lions, Viking and Packers on the road and Philly, New England and the Jets at home. I can see wins at Detroit, Minnesota and at home against New York. I'm calling 10-6

New York (6-4) has Jacksonville, Washington, Minnesota, Philly, Green Bay and Washington. I like them against Jacksonville, Washington both times, Minnesota and in a revenge game against Philly at home. They're going 11-5.

Chicago and New York are taking the wildcards in the NFC. Tampa Bay has beaten up on San Fran, Carolina x2, Cleveland, St Louis, Arizona and Cincinnati. And then they play Detroit. Literally the shittiest of the shit. Throw Buffalo in there and they've played every pathetic team in the league. Tampa's record is inflated. They ain't for real.

Nice research.

And yes, it has happened before, 3 from the same division, 3 times.....it actually happened in both conferences in 2007:

2006 -- NFC East -- Eagles, Cowboys, Giants
2007 -- AFC South -- Colts, Jaguars, Titans
2007 -- NFC East -- Cowboys, Giants, Redskins
