Need Help Starting Life

I don't know what to do here, I'm stuck. 7 months ago, I graduated from highschool and moved back to my hometown from a household situation which is a novel in itself. Long story short: I was adopted, only for the check, completely disconnected. I moved back to my hometown across the country and in with my best friend and his family. Within a few weeks started dating his sister. We had a bad break up a little while later, but she is frowned upon among the commoners so I was allowed to stay. I've been here and have been looking for a job for 7 months. I couldn't start college this year because I simply have no money. I finally got a job but I only get like 400 a month, but the cheapest apartment here is 700. I'm really smart (2200< SAT score), I want to go to college. Only problem is my "mom" opened various accounts in my name during our poor, hateful times, thus starting me off with a horrible credit. Also, as you've probably guessed, my friend's family IS getting tired of me being here. 7 months is a long time. How the hell to I get out of this dilemma?

The cheapest place is a hotel that does monthly rentals for 735, but they're single occupancy. I've looked for roommates but they all want more than my 400 a month. I can't afford anything.

Not surprised. The cost of living in san fran is ridiculous.

Are you maintaining a high standard of living or is that the going rate for even the most basic living quarters?

Student loans get you into college and help cover expenses. Sallie Mae doesn't care about your credit score, they'll give money to anybody.

Go to college, live in the dorms, work a job on the side. Disco.

I've looked into loans and scholarships and trust me, if I could go to college, I would. I could afford an apartment or hotel room if I got a full time job, but that seems to be impossible in this overcrowded, recession-fucked city.

Also apply for financial aid, maybe you can get grants.

I've been all through that office. They said I need either more money or some kind of fallback like parents to cover me. (I don't have any family, not even a reference) You'd be surprised how high tuition is. My biggest problem, though, is that I need to get a place. They keep reminding me "it's been 7 months..."

starting off with bad credit is a bitch. its going to make things much more difficult. i fucking hate that its like that but its true. i was stuck forever with that shit. cant get a phone without a big deposit, cant rent a house easily, get a car, rent a car, rent a movie. its fucked.

you will find people who will look past it, but rarely. the only thing you can do is talk with people. explain it wasnt your fault. people are willing to bend the rules sometime.

if your living area is expensive, theres nothing you can do besides rent a room, do the roommate thing, or move to a suburban area. i rented a room when i first moved out. it sucked but it was awesome at the same time. i highly recommend it.

and school, thats another bag of worms. everyone mooches of their parents while doing the school thing. that shit is awful. i refused to do that myself so i took the hard route.

youre gonna have to work this out. its gonna take some serious thinking and work to get going but there are options. you just have to find them.

Go to school. You should check out FAFSA and at least get a pell grant. There are a shit tone of scholarships someone like you should be able to apply for. Stay with your friends family so your not living on loans.Even if you end up in a community college your better off than nothing; and from there You Might find something you like doing, get your feet wet while you can!

Let me rephrase this. I can't stay here much longer. I need to get out of their house ASAP. Honestly, I'm thinking about joining the American war machine. But then where would that leave me for the next 6 months or so till I could presumably go to basic training?

What does your roommate (or his hot sister) think about it?

I have 2 suggestions.
One is join the military. If you think you can do it.
Another is get a teaching certificate to teach English then go to asia or south america......you never know what You Might find.
Its not that hard to do.

meesterperfect sounds like he knows something. I am not a military guy but in 2-4 years you get back here with respect. That teaching English thing sounds pretty good too. Move forward.

Your job only gives you $400/month? Isn't that like slave labour? WTF are you doing that only pays you $400/month? What's minimum wage?? $8?? Something is fishy here? Either you're getting fucked, or you're allowing yourself to get fucked? Get a full time job. It's not hard.

School, man, CAN happen. Here's how I was able to afford it.

Also, depending on how much you make, you can decide to accept the full loan amounts that are offered, and that way you WILL have money left over for rent, gas, food, etc. I think someone else already mentioned grants, and this is true as well, and the best part is not only do you not have to pay those back, but the school you are going to go to will do the legwork for you a lot of the time and find them FOR you. With your test scores, you have NO need to waste away in a lame town...please look into the FAFSA...there are ways you can make this happen.

Good luck to you man, I truly mean that. A good education is everything, and it's something they can never take away. Ever. Get fired up. Make this shit happen. Go better yourself.

People act like working full time and going to school full time is impossible. GTFO you lazy fucks. It's 4 years of your life. Suck it up.
