NBA '09/'10 Season Thread

Orlando really fucked up this year. They are so young, they didn't have to go for it all this year. They could have got someone 10 times better than Carter next year. It's not like San Antonio, Boston or Dallas, who feel like they have a year or two left.

I dunno.

i agree i mean carter is a guy who you can give the ball to in the half court and make things happen when the shot clock and plays break down but at the price of such a young up and coming star in courtney lee i think it is dumb.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Soooo...

-Dallas gets Shawn Marion and Kris Humphries.
-Toronto gets Devean George and Antoine Wright.
-Memphis gets Jerry Stackhouse, Quincy Douby and Cash.
-Orlando gets trade exception as part of the sign and trade.

Jerry Stackhouse will be bought out and become a free agent.

Dallas has a nice line up now. Gortat, Dirk, Marion, Howard, Kidd. Terry, Dampier, Barea and Humphries coming off the bench. Could be a top team in the West.

I feel like Toronto is getting owned in this trade. Although they couldn't afford to keep Marion, so they did a sign and trade to at least get something for him. I'm not sure losing Marion, Delfino and Parker is worth getting Hedo Turkoglu. They still have no bench. Oh well. That will be fixed when they trade Chris Bosh at the trade deadline.

Toronto isn't going to lose Delfino and Parker, this trade was done so that they would still have cap room (they have 12M before they hit the luxury tax) to sign one of them (likely Delfino) and still have plenty of money left to fill the bench.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Boston signing Wallace.

It was mentioned a couple pages ago. Desperation move if you ask me.

Um wow, the offseason has definitely been strange thus far.

But all I care about is getting Lamar Odom back to my lakers so we can win another championship next season! Trevor Ariza was an idiot to leave, but whatever, Ron Artest is better.

I really do not see how Shaquille O'Neal is going to help Cleveland, or how Rasheed Wallace is going to help Boston. Shaq is good for his age, but will he really be the difference maker for the Cavs? I doubt it. He'll give them 10-15 quality minutes per game, and thats not enough. LeBron needs another legitimate star on the team (Mo Williams is not a real star), and Shaq is not the answer to that problem.
And Rasheed Wallace is what, 35? He's aging and he is terribly inconsistent and lacks motivation.

Lakers are still #1 next year. Boston and Cleveland will be at the top in the regular season as well, but I don't see them going far. I think Portland is on the rise, and they scare me because the Lakers match up horribly with them.

I think the Lakers might be questioning whether or not it's wise to commit megabucks to Lamar Odom at this point in his career. He has had "motivational issues" in the past. He has his ring...now he wants to get crazy paid.

It might be *wise* in the long run for the Lakers to let him go. Having said all that, I think it becomes a MUST SIGN for Miami to get Odom....

am i the only one super excited for the 2009 2010 season i mean i thought yawn next season will be awesome after nearly every superstar becomes a free agent but mean alot of good people changed teams i think 2009 2010 season will be awesome

Screw next season, i'm ready for the 2010 offseason. I wanna see what big name(s) the Bulls will land. Lebron? Wade?

If your a real fan of basketball every season is exciting.Cant wait for the upcoming season.

That's not true.....I gurantee you most fans with the exception of Laker and Celtic fans are intrested more in the offseason then this upcoming year. People are overlooking the draft as well, you have John Wall and Derrick Favors who are going to be 1 and 2 next year. You will see teams purposely lose so they can have a better chance at the number 1 pick. The Cavs did it and look how it turned out for them......Do not overlook John Wall

So,let me get this straight. You are a NBA fan but you have no interest in the upcomming season based on the upcomming free agent class and next years draft?Let me point a few things out to you.

1.The salary cap went DOWN this year and will probably go down even further next year = some of these superstars will be signing extensions.

2.Next years draft?Come on.Nothing but unproven players.I respect the talent,but really?Sam Bowie?Kwame Brown?Adam Morrison?Olawakandi?Anybody remember Darko?The list goes on.

3.Even if superstars like Lebron leave, their new teams better be happy with just having him.Look at the Knicks roster.Enough said.

If you skip the upcomming season based on superstars that might end up on the same team and next years draft:rofl:then thats on you.Ill be watching and enjoying competition at its best.

You're missing the point....Not every team is looking forward to the upcoming year. For example I'm a Bulls fan so I'm not expecting big things from the this year so therefore I'm not creaming my pants like you over the upcoming season. I'm more intrested in who they land in the offseason. And just because the cap is lowered by 1 million dollars (which is nothing) doesn't mean teams will be reluctant to land a Lebron James or Dwyane Wade. Have you ever heard of a rebuilding year? Teams do this all the time and fans look forward to the FUTURE. Do you ever watch ESPN? They talk about this all the time.....:dunno:

Do you watch espn? They already said the cap could go down as much as 8 million next year. And just because your team is in a rebuilding year your not gonna watch the next season?I understand what it is to be a fan,but if people didnt watch and were not interested because their teams were "rebuilding",the NBA would go down in flames.Look at teams like the Bucks,Pacers or the T wolves.Would you say they are rebuilding? They have sucked for years and none of the big free agents are going to go there.Even if they did, they still wouldnt be shit. Those people support those teams because they are fans of the game of basketball. The Bulls have some good young talent, and besides the fact that they overpaid for Deng, they should be alright. But what if Rose signs somewhere else after his rookie contract? You could be waiting years for them to put contenders on the floor.

What the fuck is Odom doing? Turns down 30 million over 3 years, then turns down 34 million over 4 years. Only Portland can offer more money than the Lakers, and they haven't expressed interest at all.

It's funny how after the Finals, players say they want to stay and play for a contender for less money. But then July comes around and they're turning down 10 million to play for the reigning champs.

I think he wants to start.

Start in Miami for $30 million over 5 years, or come off the bench in L.A for $30 million over 3 years?

He's staying in L.A.
