My Paycheck got Smaller and My Hours got Cut

Well, this week it happened. The Deductions in my paycheck increased and the Company sent a memo saying that no part timer can get more than 29 hours per week.
Why? Obamacare.
So now I must look for another part time job if I wanna eat and maintain a roof and take care of my child.

I'm sorry but if this is now beginning to affect millions of working people like this across the country, how is this helping?

Sort of the same here. We're slow, so I'm only getting 32-38 hrs per week, when I was getting 42-48. Maybe not the worst, but when you combine the income tax increase, and the medical insurance increases....I'm living check to check.

obamacare will without a doubt make the economy worse by limiting the amount of work a person can do, therefore limiting their income. It will also cause inflation, prices for everything to rise. Its also going to force good parents to spend more time away from their kids and families.

My employer (a privately-held company with over $100 million in annual sales) used the same ploy on us at our annual meeting last September. In an address to the employees, he plead poormouth due to the "bad economy", rising healthcare costs due to Obamacare and the uncertainty about the upcoming presidential election. Then, he blatantly intimated that if Obama were to be reelected, the company might be forced to lay off part of the workforce and that wages would be frozen going into 2013. Sure enough, that's exactly what happened....even though, in actuality, the company attained record sales and profits in 2012.

Unlike some others, I feel bad for you, MP, and I truly hope that you can find a way to maintain an adequate lifestyle for you and your son. I would also tell you that, even though I admit that I voted for him, I continue to become more and more disenchanted with the Obama administration as time goes on (not the I believe that Romney would have been a better choice....the republican party is in the process of committing suicide from my perspective). However, the assertions from these corporate moguls that Obama "the socialist" is destroying capitalism are a smokescreen as far as I am concerned. They aren't "job creators", they are "profit takers". If Obama is a socialist, he's a lousy one.

Will, could you please demonstrate, with complete sentences and citations, how you know that President Obama wants to hurt the American Economy? As he took a very public vow to do the best for the country he could while he holds office, the burden of proof is on you in this instance. Please don't cite conspiracy theory websites, or just a collection of legislation enacted that you don't like, as what you like and don't like is not necessarily what's best for the nation.

I asked you to justify your opinion, which is not correct. You didn't. Further proof that you are incapable of having an actual conversation. While some of that may be true, "greedy" capitalists can dictate hiring trends based upon market conditions and automation and technology developments and they have that right. They are not sitting in a back room conspiring on how to cut more jobs or benefits. A lot has changed in the past 30 years in terms of technology or have you noticed?

If they need more manpower and it means more profits they hire. The ACA is the first time in our history that the government has mandated something that could punish employers if they keep more full time employees. MP is just one example of this and it will continue.
