Military Service

United States Marine Corps 1992-2001

Did some time on the USS Nassau and the Gunston Hall.

I hated being on both boats.

You really don;t get to pick where they send you. I was a 19d cav scout so we wound up in the thick of the fight almost everytime. I have to agree with the vietnam guy, combat is nothing that anyone WISHES they went in for. It's scarry as shit and is pretty tough to see a fellow brother get shot right next to you and have HIS blood on YOUR dcu/acu.
"the vietnam guy" ???

Damn!!! NOW I feel really old and forgotten....

... amongst other things...

not old. I was just to busy to scroll up and find you SN thats all. so what was you MOS during 'nam?

Grandfather was in Korea. Dad was in Vietnam. Both of them were very much against me joining the military. So I listened to them and went to college instead. Probably a good thing too because I'm not one for taking orders. Respect to those who serve though.

Question: When you were deployed, did you ever have to pull one? :D And if so, how and where did you, and is it a secret amongst units? :dunno:

Can't speak for anyone else, but when your in a combat zone thats the last thing on your mind.

Two of my uncles were in Nam, one was a USAF pilot flying on f105g thunderchief from 1967 till 1971. Later in 1974, he came back to USA, he was flying f15A. He retired from USAF in 1995. The other uncle was an usmc pilot flying on the f4c in Nam from 1966 till late 1972. He retired from the USMC in 1994. Two of my cousins were sent in the first gulf war, one was a paratrooper in the 101st airborne and another was a recon soldier in the marines.
I normally should have done my miltary service in France but Chirac changed the law at that time and I decided to continue my studies instead of going in the army. Respect to those who served in the Army.

If we have girls like Nina in the Army there would be no need for .50 caliber guns.

Navy Seabee 12 years 95'-07', Big Perm was my callsign.
3 tours to Iraq, etc. etc.

Thanks everyone for the thanks we all got/get on here for our service.

After high school I wanted to go into the Navy. I scored high enough on the ASVAB to get into the nuke program, but they turned me away after my physical. They said I couldn't serve if I had flat feet and was using 3 inhalers for my asthma. :crying:

I thank all of you who serve now or have served in the past for all that you do for us. :hatsoff:
you served in desert rose huh lol i know you tried to put d e s e r t ... s t o r m i think its funny the way it reads

Yeah, I didn't know my response would get hijacked by a porn chick named "Desert Storm"....lol.

If you want to get rid of that annoying babe link feature you have to type in [ nobabe] before you write that name that's coming up as a link, and then [/ nobabe] after it.

not old. I was just to busy
If I had a dime for everytime a young turd gave me that excuse; I could've retired with a bunch of mansions on the Hamptons by now!!!

Too bad the turds I knew didn't live long enough to give me that excuse...

so what was you MOS during 'nam?
That's "VIETnam" to YOU, mister!

NOT " 'nam" - BUT "Vietnam."

But even though you're "Cavalry", old 'gramps' here will answer your question:
11B.
