Love

Just had to put down the dog I'd had for about 14 years. She was a rescue. She'd been starved and abused. Ended up being the nicest dog I've ever had.

It was just time, that became apparent last night. She couldn't go on any longer. Still, doing it has cut me pretty deep. But she was suffering, and I love her, so it had to happen.

I am sorry to hear about the passing of your dog.

I know I can't relate personally but my ex girlfriend had a dog that was barely 3 years old pass away very recently. While she and I are no longer close, I still offered my condolences on her loss. The dog was a rescue pup and you wouldn't have known he had be abused because he was always friendly and I took a shining to him immediately. Considering he supposedly had a history of not getting along with men I was even more grateful that he took a shining to me fairly quickly as well.

Thanks.

Rescue dogs often get a bad rap. I've known quite a few and all of the ones I've known, while having some issues, have been very loving.

I think it's probably applicable to the conversation because, romantic or not, love is powerful and sometimes painful. And as hard as the decision was, I knew it was the right one to make. And I guess that's part of love; making hard decisions, even ones you absolutely don't want to make.

And now... more booze. :)

Ha well I don't think calling someone else a miserable prick is very charming. But I'll give you a second Chance to redeem yourself ;)

Normally I'd try that second Chance. Somehow I just can't get miserable prick to sound much more charming than that.
