I don't know, idiotism is pretty strong around here.

Thank you, I'm here all week.

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
Love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart but please don't break it
Love was made for me and you

...is the latest word to have its' meaning diluted from overuse.

Yeah, people love at the drop of a hat these days. Even distinguishing between love as a stronger function of "like" and the love you feel for an other half, it's out of hand. Not only do they "love" their car or their sports team, I've heard people say they love their ISP or mobile company. Come off it, admire their service standards maybe, but love?

The word love is thrown out there too frivolously - I love so and so to death usually followed by that person talking shit about so and so.

The definition of love to me is being willing to lay your life down for another to spare them the same fate.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts. I think the sociological definition of love is something along the lines of, "When the wants, needs, and desires of another are as important (not more) as our own."

What I would like to know is what it's called when the feeling isn't reciprocated. Is that still considered love, or is it just insanity?

I think that would be an even greater example of love. It's easy to love someone who love you back right? I'm thinking of the relationship between a parent and a child who they love unconditionally, reciprocated or not.

Exactly. My guy is 37 years older than me. So by the time I'm his age, he'll likely be dead. As much as I'd like to be with someone I could grow old with and as much as I don't want to die alone, I've thought of that exact situation in his eyes. Him living the remainder of his life alone with no one to share it with, and I hate that thought. I'd rather be with him now, have him be happy, than me being selfish and not being with him because I'm too scared to die alone. That's love. Caring more or equally about another person than you do yourself.
