Legarret Blount: Oregon Sucker puncher

At least Chip Kelly suspended his ass for the season. Im from oregon and this is not the garbage that needs to be representing my state on the football field.

here the video if you havent seen it already.

Im actually suprised this hasnt popped up here yet.

^^Apparently you have never played football. People talk smack every single play. Dude sucker punches an opposing player, goes after fans, wrestles with teammates, coaches and police because he couldn’t back up his pre game talk on the field. If you really think that is acceptable behavior to be emulated, you will really go far in life.

You dont walk up to somebody after a game, grab them and then talk shit the thier face all while the guy is walking off the field. He deserved to get punched.

Agreed 100% BI. There's no place for sucker-punching in sports. Ask Rudy Tomjanovich. Coach Davie is correct....he's suspended indefinitely from my football team if I'm the coach.

Well I've played football before & I totally agree with timevslife & had no real problem with Hout getting punched in the damn mouth.Obviously you & your coaches have no problem with taunting opponents after a game & don't understand the possible consequences of taunting an angry/fustrated opponent. Luckily the guy only threw a short cross right/check punch & not a haymaker.
The only problem I have with Blount is the big scene he caused afterwards. I have seen far worse college brawls than that punch:dunno: I believe Oregon(if they are so bothered by this) should at least release the kid from his scholarship committment if they feel a whole season is necessary so he can move on.

People may smack talk 'during' every single play ,but this was 'after' a tough loss early in the season.

Kellen Houston(Nebraska) threw a haymaker at a Mizzou fan who never saw him & many commentators thought it was funny & Houston was suspended for the 1st half of the game. Issue Over. This doens't even rise to that level.

No one deserves to get punched for taunting someone after winning. If you don't want to be taunted, win. I would add though, Hout did pick the wrong guy to taunt which I suppose makes the circular point of why taunting is not wise to begin with.

I don't know what was said to Blount and it is understandable that players can lose their cool and punch or fight as it's happen many, many, many, many times throughout the history of sports. Hell, it's a part of hockey. Guys have punched each other over NASCAR wrecks, baseball pitchers throw baseballs 80+ mph at fairly defenseless opposing players because the player did what he's paid to do, hit a HR...bench clearing brawls ensue..etc.

Punches and fights have happened before, during and after college football games so the punch while problematic to me and certainly deserving of punishment was not the most striking thing (no pun intended...honestly) about the incident. Blount's subsequent actions were the most troubling thing in the whole incident and is more than likely the reason why he won't be playing again this season.

Blount looked like a deranged man and clearly in need of professional help more than a football. If Blount doesn't get help with his self-control, emotional outbursts and anger...he'll likely end up carrying the rock in the state penn.

Troy Smith and my Buckeyes were taunted by the Gators after the game a couple years ago. Should the Buckeyes have started a brawl? No, of course not! What they should have done is practice hard before hand and not think that all they had to do was show up to win.

He has no more eligibility to play college football anywhere else.

What would be the point? He would have to sit a whole year anyway if he wanted to play D-1A (Or Div. I FBS as they call it now) for transferring.

Pretty much what I thought.....Blount is a moron. Plain and simple.

Almost all of the guys who play football are more aggressive the average Joe. It's part of the attitude they preach to these guys when they're younger and it's what allows many of them to be successful. Blount is an idiot, because rather than going off in the locker room or somewhere a little more private he chose to lose his shit on the field. He deserves the punishment he has received and no D1-AA team is going to take a chance with his reputation. Another thing that shouldn't be ignored is that since he's a senior his football career is officially dead.

Like everyone one else is saying, it's not the Punch,it was acting like a total baby and going after fans and haing the police and teammates hold him back. Funny thing is he is still permitted to practice with the team, which I think he should not be involved with Oregan football at all but I don't hva e say. Sufficent to say he went from a 10 ten draft pick to not playing football at all. He is just another pacman jones that would ruin the NFL anyways.

Most athletes have higher testosterone levels than the average guy because of weight training, etc.

Assuming he isn't already a 5th year player he could still redshirt this season. You get 5 years to play 4.

The one and only.
I'm ecstatic he cold cocked that guy! Was it cheap? Was it unnecessary? I don't care. It improves my Boilermakers' chances this week when they travel to the Autzen Zoo. Boiler Up!

I didn't defend what the guy did afterwards & made it 'perfectly clear' in my post that I had a problem with what he did 'afterwards' & not the punch to this knucleheads mouth. I would have kept straight for the locker unless the guy was physically impeding my way to the lockerroom.

I didn't see any brawl, but one could have ensued because some guy chose to search out an individual player & chase him across the field ,after a game, actually taunt / put his hands on him & got hit in the mouth.
That's why the NCAA is cracking down on 'taunting'.

I have seen far far worse in college football(LSU players knocked two Miami Hurricanes unconcious after 2005 Peach Bowl, guy from Nebraska who really sucker punched a fan,etc....) , but if Oregon thinks it warrants a year I'm fine with it.:dunno:
All the self righteous indignation at the punch is what I think is a joke.

Didn't know about the guys eligibility. Needs to hire a personal trainer & be prepared for the Combines(unlike Maurice Clarett who was drafted despite his problems in the 3rd round) if any teams are interested.

I would say again...based on what I saw after the punch would be to make sure he's okay psychologically...I'm not saying whether he is or isn't but IF he isn't, there's a likelihood he'll end up like MoCee anyway.:2 cents:
