LeBron picks the Heat.

Toronto will still do OK still some moves to be made:cool:

Hey, this got me thinking. Should we start a "Is Favre coming back" thread now or wait till the beginning of September?

This will likely blow up in LeBron's face. Even if they do win. He still coulda won somewhere else, leading his team to glory. Now, he's taking the easy way out to get the nay-sayers off his back. At least Chris Bosh chose the Heat for himself, not to please others. He did it cuz, fuck, it's Miami, Florida!

Then they need to make some serious moves because now they don't have Chris Bosh and they made a bad move by signing a below-average player Amir Johnson to five-year, $34 million deal (outrageous contract in my opinion). I hate to say it, but Toronto Raptors' future is looking bleak and I would be surprised if they make to the playoffs next year.

Baseball players can make alot more just because there isn't a salary cap. Where LBJ AND Wade make alot of cash is from their endorsement deals especially LBJ who is basically his own brand. I don't think you can say this about some MLB players.

I would say Jeter is in the same league,Griffey was,in his prime, along with quite a few others.

If you are lucky enough to get a contract like ARod got from Texas, there really isn't any reason to bother with endorsements. It's just extra work for more money that you will never be able to spend in a lifetime.

There is no way they will make the playoffs next year. The East has become too good; the Raptors won't be able to realistically compete with any team in the East for a spot. We've been through this before. We'll be bottom feeders for a couple years until we land a superstar who will bring us back to relevancy, only for him to leave as well.

LeBronomics: Could High Taxes Influence James' Team Decision?

NBA superstar free agent would pay over $12 million in New York income taxes, none in Miami

While sports reporters have sought agents and teammates for the inside scoop on where NBA superstar free agent LeBron James will sign, there’s another person who may know The King’s next move: his accountant.

In a July 1 blog post, the New York Post warned that “dysfunctional lawmakers in Albany” could cost the state a chance to bring the coveted athlete to New York.

“If LeBron James goes to the Miami Heat instead of the [New York] Knicks, blame our dysfunctional lawmakers in Albany, who have saddled top-earning New Yorkers with the highest state and city income taxes in the nation, soon to be 12.85 percent on top of the IRS bite,” the Post said.

The tax savings for James in Miami over New York City would be staggering, according to the Post’s analysis.

“On a five-year contract worth $96 million -- what he'd get from the Knicks or the Heat -- LeBron would pay $12.34 million in New York taxes.” Florida has no state income tax.

New Jersey and Ohio, the other reported frontrunners to attract James, also have state income taxes, but they are not as his as in New York. Based on a $96 million contract, James would pay $5.69 million in state taxes if he re-signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers. If he signed with the New Jersey Nets, James would pay $10.32 million in state taxes.

The New York Post isn’t the only media outlet using “LeBronomics.” In her July 8 EconWatch post, CBSNews.com’s Jill Schlesinger dubbed yesterday’s market rally “The LeBron James rally.”

Robert Schoenberger and Teresa Dixon Murray of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer estimated that downtown Cleveland businesses will lose $48 million over the course of the NBA season without James.

Wow, no wonder he didn't want to go to New York. Can't say I blame him though.

But I don't think MLB does a good job of individually marketing their players unlike the NFL or NBA.

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
I am NOT mad that Lebron picked the Heat, but I would have rather seen him go too Chicago, or Detroit  or just stay in Cleveland, but THANK GAWD he didn't pick the Nets or even worse the Knicks... I would have put the Jinxy curse on Lebron to never win a championship, and I would hate on Lebron until the day he left the Big Apple.

No offense to NY'ers but you guys have the Yankee's that's enough!!! the Yankee's get all the glitz, & glam, so as a Michiganian / Detroiter I have acquired the taste to hate every single NY sports team with a passion.
:2 cents:

This is a lose lose situation for Lebron. If he wins, people (including myself) will just say he can't win without team USA. If he loses, he becomes the butt of every NBA joke for the next 50 years.

Btw...what kind of king tries to rule another mans castle???

^ LeBron is no longer the King. There are no kings in Wade County.

In ten years, it's going to be Wade that will be considered the better player. He's going to be the one leading the Heat. And he's always going to have one more ring than LeBron.

Or, he doesn't care what people think of him and just wants to play some ball with his friends and try to win some rings. I don't see the problem.

This is what I'm thinking. God forbid the guy for trying to win a championship (which last I checked, was the reason for most player decisions). All the talk about LeBron not being able to win a championship by himself, name one player who has. Every single one of the "greats" have all had help.

Sure he could have stayed loyal to Cleveland, but he didn't. He's not the first player in any sport to not stay loyal to his original team and bolt to find championship glory else where. He won't be the last.

No matter what LeBron did, Dan Gilbert could have showed some class. Instead he acted like a little kid who just had his best toy taken away (which essentially he did). All Gilbert did was show what a loser he really is and in my opinion did more to embarrass the team then anything LeBron did.

He still won't win a championship. It doesn't matter whether he's got Dwane Wade or Shaq on his team.

He would have had a better chance for a ring in Chicago.

Three superstars on one team with no bench and no money to pay anyone else will not work. Had he gone to Chicago I think they could be top 2 teams in the East next year and seriously contend with Orlando (not old man Boston)for the NBA Finals east spot.

D.Wade is the better player, so lets see if "King" James can handle being second best and the second (or third) option. Bosh and Wade sounded great but adding James was crazy.

Hopefully they get rid of Beasley and the Bobcasts get him. That'd be nice.

3 reasons why Lebron didn't join the knicks.

1). Camel Face jay Z (Part owner of the nets)
http://kronikle.kidrobot.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/cameljayz.jpg

2). The Gay Duo Wade & Bosh

3). Pat "The Weasel" Riley we still hate that motherfucker!

You forgot to add the fourth which I've already mentioned it on the second page of this thread and I would argue it's the biggest reason than all of the three above.

They are getting rid of him, however, the Bobcats will not get him.

Wolves To Acquire Michael Beasley

Whatever way I look at it it's the wrong decision:
1.So lets say Bron, D-Wade and Bosh win it all, that's what's expected of them. Lebron will suffer the "couldn't win on his own" criticism.
2.If they lose at any stage before the Finals and it's a complete failure.
3.He's losing a shitload of money.
The guy should have stayed home and tried to get the Cavs over the hump. That way he's either gonna win and be put up there with Mike and the greats or not get the championships and be ranked with Malone, Kidd, Dominique and all the other all-timers without a ring. Still not terrible company.
