While it would appear from all the evidence so far that the officer in question is certainly worthy of the charges leveled against him, I find it abhorrent that a black man such as yourself would post an emoticon of people partying while Mr. Scott's ****** and friends are in serious pain from this week's events and are grieving tremendously over his needless loss. To revel in the differences that lie between blacks and whites instead of hoping for and reaching toward a way to end them is just not right. However, the only way we rid ourselves of these injustices is to find a way to eliminate, not exacerbate, our differences.

I would ask you to consider these points as you go forward and, although I am not black and would never pretend to know what it is like to be a black man like you living in modern-day America, I do know that the words and philosophies of Dr. King would be a lot more in line with my way of thinking than your extreme hatred for the establishment and your desire for retribution at any cost. As a white American citizen, I extend my hand to you and all people of all races and ethnicities in the spirit of friendship, love, respect and peace. Will you do the same? :dunno:

Funny how I get labeled a racist, but without a seconds hesitation, everyone wants the white cop jailed, when he ***** a black person, and no where do I ever see anyone looking for facts, just "justice", which I'm guessing really means revenge, and retribution. Now I didn't watch the video, but it's clear from what I've read, this cop crossed a line, and as Ace said, he should be punished for what he did, but I would like to know why no one screams for "justice" when a black cop ***** a black ***? I wonder why it's always a **** crime, when a black is ******, but never when any other race is ******. I just got to this thread, and all I see is racism. pretty funny how that works.

Because, the problem is that these last monthes we've seen many cases of white cops ******* black *** or (unarmed black citizens) and they all got away with it.Even civilians can get away with it b(just like G. Zimmerman).

Now tell me about a recent case of a black cop ******* a black *** and give me a list of similar cases in which the cops got away with it and then I would call for "Justice" for this black ***.


Oh and, FYI I would want this cop to be jailed as well if he had ****** a white ***. This is not about race, this is about ******.

There is. It's just that the media and yourself do not pay attention to it. As far as **** crimes being only for blacks, there is a trial in N.C. where the defendants are trying to get the **** crime part removed and the victims were not black. The case were the Australian man was shot in Florida, I myself said that the **** crime should have been applied. The prosecutor did not have the intestinal fortitude to at least try to charge him with it. When it was mentioned in the media none of the talking heads were against it from what I remember.

To be fair, no one "screams for justice" when it's a white cop that ***** a white guy either. That's not where the dichotomy lies although the intent may be similar or perhaps even identical. I'm sure it happens many times over, regardless of race. Problem is, it's the racial angle that makes it newsworthy for some reason....probably because we have a lot of racial issues yet to overcome in the USA.

You're right. There is no doubt about it, it's race baiting, just like this thread, and a few of the posters around here that like to point fingers, but can't smell there own ****, when it's right in front of them. Of course ratings on the news are always far more important then the truth, or justice. But here's the part I like the best....This cop is white, and he obviously fucked up real good, and he should pay the price for it...and EVERY white person with a lick of common sense, and ounce of logic, will admonish him, and step back, and admit he should be imprisoned. But when a black person commits a crime, no matter how bad, his people will rally behind him, and seek out EVERY, and ANY excuse they can, to justify it, but admit he did wrong, and expect him to pay the price, oh no....that would be the right thing to do, and it's always someone elses fault, never the one that committed the crime.

I answered a question in a thread. The shooter mentioned that wanted to shoot the 1st person he saw. Part of my answer was that he should have shot who he saw in the mirror. I also mentioned somewhere in the Michael Brown thread about an unarmed white man in Utah that was shot by the police at the same tine and barely received media attention. Most of the thread I did create that were not obits no one seems to be that concerned. They are more questions like one I created about society not being concerned about education, etc. and where did it begin.

Several things:

Is the media focusing on cases where White cops have shot unarmed Blacks lately? Yes. Why? It's become a social issue that's generating page views and eyeballs on the TV. The same thing is going on with issues affecting women and gays (wage issues, promotions, same sex marriage, etc.). Is there the same kind of media focus when a Black cop shoots a Black ***, an Hispanic cop shoots an Hispanic *** or a White cop shoots a White ***? No, generally not. Just like there's not the same kind of focus on same sex domestic ***** cases or female/male domestic ***** cases. For lack of a better analogy, it's only a "good" news story when the man bites the dog - not when the dog bites the man or the dog bites another dog. Is that right? Probably not. But they don't call it the news business for nothing.

As for justice, the cop was fired and he's been arrested. But Casey Anthony and O.J. got arrested too. So... the jury is still out (literally) on whether or not there will be justice in this case. And let's remember, if not for the video shot by a very brave citizen, the cop's story, that he was under ****** and feared for his life, would have certainly ****** muster. And let's not forget that his lie, as he dropped the stun *** next to the guy's lifeless body, was not the only lie told that day. At least one other cop seemingly lied and claimed that he administered CPR on the scene. Unless the video was edited, that was clearly not true. Cleaning house down there would be a good start, IMO.

For those who don't know or realize, cops cover for each other no matter what. As a general rule, they'll either lie for each other or they'll just not say anything if the truth will hurt a ******* cop. I have friends who are cops. My ****** is full of cops. But that is the way it is.

Dirty cops and back-shooters... America is becoming a Republic without honor. And not just cops. That word just doesn't mean much to most people these days.

He would have still had to explain why he shot him in the back 4 times, even without the video. There would be Ferguson type protests and a lot more pressure on this case since post Ferguson.
I don't think where the stun *** was has been proven yet. The news keeps playing the shooting HALF of the video, not the beginning where they are fighting. The eye witness said he saw them wrestling on the ground first, when the suspect got away, he started filming.
I don't think he should have shoot the guy running away, but it's another case of do what the cop says and none of this would happen.

Look how badly the officer and the second officer handled the situation after the shooting...No CPR procedures they just handcuff a man who's been shot. They don't even try to revive the victim. No effort whatsoever. Disgusting.

He speaks of manslaughter. To him, it is nor ******, it's manslaughter. But this is just the beginning, soon Hannity, O'Reilly, Carlsson and Boling will call for slager to be cleared of all charges.

He clearly said it was unforgivable, he simply points out, that everything was done by the numbers, up until that point, and the cops lawyer should begin NEGOTIATING A PLEA for manslaughter. Not a word was spoken about the ****** charge being dropped. Not a word about this being justifiable. You obviously missed the part about more whites being shot by police, and that this should have never been about race, and it shouldn't have. The dead guy should have never run either. I want to know what that warrant was for, if there was one, and if it was for something serious, that may have given this officer a reason to believe this guy was a threat to himself, or the public, that should be given serious consideration. I wish the taser would have worked, and the guy resisted even more, so he could have used a night stick to beat the fuck out of him

Possibly. But this same cop has had at least one other complaint filed against him for using excessive *****. The department swept that one under the rug... until this happened. Now it looks as if that entire police department has lots of explaining to do.

If the guy had done as requested, he *may* not have gotten shot. He still may have gotten beaten up or tased. Given this cop's alleged past history, we just don't know what provokes him to use excessive *****. The only thing we know right now is that the cop appears to have ******** the rules on when it is permissible to fire on a fleeing suspect. IS there any SPECIFIC details about the excessive *****...like was he arresting a ***** driver, or a ***** ********. I just wonder where his adrenalin level was, not that it makes it okay, but sometimes it's hard to keep your temper when a *** is hurt, or something horrid. This guy probably shouldn't have been a cop in the first place, but some how there's always a couple that can beat the tests.

There was no warrant. His folks reported that the reason he ran away could be that he feared there may be a warrant and then some Fox News "reporter" started to say there was one but according to the Associated Press, there wasn't.
Walter Scott had somme issues with Justice by the past but nothing serious:

The Associated Press reported on Friday that while Scott owed $7,500 in back payments for ***** support, there was no bench warrant issued for his arrest at the time of his death. Officer Slager fatally shot Scott in the back as the latter ran away after an alleged scuffle in North Charleston, S.C.
In 2008, after a traffic stop in which he was charged with an open-container ********* and driving under suspension, he was sent to jail in Charleston for six months for failing to pay about $6,800. In 2011, bench warrants ordered deputies to bring him in, and Scott spent a night in jail when he was $7,500 behind. In 2012, he spent another night in jail when he owed $3,500.
