JPMorgan Chase closing the accounts of pornstars for "MORAL REASONS"

JPMorgan Chase is currently closing the accounts of all adult industry members that bank with them. They're apparently doing this for "moral reasons". Which is strange because this is a bank that launders drug cartel money, regularly violates SEC regulations, and helped cripple the American economy.

But since they don't shoot or star in porn, they've got the moral high ground.

Good find. I hadn't heard about this. Turns out it's not just Chase though. Sounds like Bank of America and many other banks have the same policy toward porn performers and content owners.


Of course, it’s not just Chase. Performer Chanel Preston found her account through City National Bank was shut down suddenly one day, the bank citing only “compliance issues.” The founder of soft porn studio MRG Entertainment, Marc Greenberg, filed a lawsuit against J.P. Morgan after they refused to let him refinance a loan because of his job. “JPMorgan purports to be so ashamed of nudity and human sexuality that it cannot process a refinance of a home loan of plaintiff, secured by plaintiff’s house, because plaintiff’s source of income six years ago included production of television programs that contained nudity and human sexuality,” the suit reads, and is as of now unresolved. Teagan Presley tried to open an account with Bank of America, only to be turned down there as well. In all these cases, it didn’t matter that the checks didn’t bounce, or that they money paid out was for things unrelated to the adult industry — home loans, childcare, groceries, rent. It only mattered that the money was considered “immoral”… even if legally earned.

What a fucking joke. If they don't want their services supporting pornography, how long before they start closing customers accounts for using the services to purchase porn? It's not their job to police people's ethics. As long as people's credit scores meet the acceptance criteria and the activity isn't illegal then they're idiots for turning down custom. When I was in banking I had to jump through hoops to get our investigations team to look into an account I suspected was being used for illegal usage, these twats are closing accounts of people earning a legitimate, legal living. What a shower of sanctimonious pricks.

BRILLIANT move by them - now they need to show they are really going to do this. They will gain a lot of new money because of this and in an industry that is very tight (no pun intended) and where people talk Wells will greatly benefit from it.
