John Lennon - 30 Years

yeah even sports center is covering this.
what can you say the man is a legend and was loved by many.
back in the day you could say he was god like

Great video...it is just a shame he is gone, I always thought the Beatles were the greatest of all time, even though when they broke up, they all went into different business interests. Great Post.

I was ten and watching Monday Night Football when the news broke. I thought Howard Cosell handled that story admirably. I wasn't into music (Still ain't that much) and didn't realize the impact his life and death would have on society. Years later would I realize what had been taken from the world and it saddened me deeply.

I'm still rather disappointed I wasn't old enough to appreciate him when he was alive.
When he was alive, I knew who The Beatles where, but not Lennon. I was more of a Chuck Berry/Buddy Holly guy at the time. I vaguely knew who Paul was, but that was because my parents owned his Ram album since it had come out and played it constantly. But, I'd no idea who John was, and that still disappoints me a little.
He's one of those people I believe I would have been able to have a good, fulfilling conversation with. Not a "Garsh, you're great!" conversation, but a real one about life, death, politics, liberty, the pursuit of happiness and all that jazz.
Finally, had he been alive today, I would like to think he would have been one of the few to have the balls to object to the Iraqi War during the invasion, and that he really would not have been a Bush fan at all.

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
One of the saddest anniversaries of my lifetime. No offense to Buddy Holly (or Don McLean), but the day John was shot was the day the music died.

does anyone else every wonder why people who believe in freedom for all humanity and start to rise to power politically, gathering a massive following of people are always assassinated, John Lennon, Martin Luther Ling Jr, The Kennedy brothers, Gandhi and the list goes on and on, sorry but I don't believe in coincidences

I don't blame the earth, I blame the elites who think they own the earth and everything on it and hence will make sure no one gets in their way of total control, but no one can stop the basic survival mechanism of freedom which is built into every human being :)

I never noticed before that Dimebag was shot on the same day as Lennon.

I'm not at all comparing them musically, but two famous musicians, both shot dead by crazed fans... Hmmmmmmmmm...

Mark David Chapman killed Lennon for what he claimed were "lies." He accused the former Beatle of preaching love, antimaterialism, and liberalism while living in an expensive apartment and hording money. Hell...for that, he could have shot the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
In my mind, Lennon was a helluva song writer. Together with McCartney he stood with anybody in history. We all mourn for his passing.

The greatest "living" songwriter is Paul McCartney ... John Lennon's partner when he was with the Beatles.

NOT Liam Gallagher NOR Noel Gallagher for that matter.

I'd give you a neg rep for posting this in a John Lennon tribute thread. But I won't. I'm a nice guy. And that's only because Zak Starkey is good friend's with Alan White and was a member of Oasis.

You are forgetting Alex...

that John's son, Julian Lennon, sounds more like John without mimicing covers of Beatles songs...

Here's three of John singing "Oh Yoko," "Oh My Love," and "Love" to profess his love for Yoko, the most important lady in his life while he was alive. :)
