If anyone really followed what Jesus said (opposed to picking and choosing which Old Testament commands to follow) there is no way anyone who calls themselves a Christian could be anything but a liberal socialist.

Jesus was born Jewish, but then converted to Dudeism after he realized that the Romans and the Pharisees were fucking fascists. Today lots of people think he’s the son of the guy who created the universe and that our life is in his hands. But probably he was just a dude who thought people should mellow out and stop getting so worked up about stuff. Sadly, few of his followers seem to actually realize that. Remember: There’s not a literal connection.

You forget that in Mathew 10 Jesus also said to take care of the sick, yet you are against Health Care unless it is for profit.
Mathew 10:35 says "For I have come to turn

36a man's enemies will be the members of his own household" How does that jive with your commandment of honoring thy ****** and ******?
Also Thessalonians was written by Paul who was never around in the time of Jesus. I put a little less stock on hearsay testimony.

I love seeing people argue about Jesus being a Liberal or Conservative or Black or White or how the "real, true" Jesus has been corrupted by the Romans or Catholics or Baptists or Capitalists. Jesus never existed. There was no historical figure that he was based on or inspired by. He's an amalgamation of other, older myths crudely put together during a time of great turmoil in Judea, nothing more.
It'd be like seeing people argue about whether or not the real Perseus had a mechanical owl or only the movie version.
