Jack the Ripper is Finally Positively Identified

It took 126 years but Jack the Ripper has finally been identified. During the past 126 years, theories about who committed at least five grizzly murders back in 1888 has been a mystery. There has never been a dearth of suspects and theories concerning the murders. Now, The daily Mail has revealed the identity of the murderer by analyzing the DNA the killer left on the scarf of one of his victims.

This time it’s not a theory or based on some obscure testimony of an alleged eye witness. This time they have used DNA to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt who was responsible for these murders. It started when a man bought a shawl at an auction belonging to one of the prostitutes, Catherine Eddowes, killed by the Ripper. Forensic testing found two different DNA samples on the scarf. The first belonged to the victim and the second obviously belonged to her killer. There have been six main suspects in the killings and one of them was a perfect match on the DNA.

I was kind of surprised it wasn't a royal, but there it is.

Funny. As long as it was a mystery I really wanted to know, and now that it is solved I'm not sure if I give a damn. Maybe because it was solved by analyzing DNA ("let's mix it in this bottle... wait... here you go!") instead of by some Sherlock-Holmes-like-out-of-the-blue-but-equally-mysterious-type-of-research. Guess I'm an ungrateful bastard.

In all seriousness, this is the post of the year IMO supposing it's true. Pretty big news.

For the EMPEROR!!
I remember watching a few of them "Ripper Theory" shows over the years and hearing his (Kominski's) name mentioned. Even though he was a full on crazy, apparently, they dismissed him as a suspect because "he didn't have the surgical-like skill needed".

I always thought it might've been Francis Tumblety.

But if this guys DNA was on it, chain of evidence or not, that's pretty damning stuff.

Yeah... I don't buy it
Just the name of the website is clear: they want buzz, not real information.
We'll never know who he was. That's it. You don't find out who a killer was 120 years later.

To be honest, I don't buy this at all. The guy who discovered this "evidence" is trying to sell a book. I'd rather wait until other people have taken a look at this DNA evidence for more confirmation.

So... they found male DNA on the shawl of a prostitute, and that means he's Jack the Ripper? There may have been thousands of Jack the Rippers, then.

Oh, and a Polish Immigrant had enough command of the English language to write the notes that ole Jack sent Scotland Yard?

I agree that this needs more serious "peer review" before considering the case closed.

Now I really wish I could watch again the BBC mini series from 40 years ago. As I recall it ended with a mention there was sealed Scotland Yard documents that wouldn't be unsealed until early in the 21st Century. (Can't remember the year but we're about there now.)

Looks like Bill the Butcher

"I know your works. You are neither cold nor hot. So because you are lukewarm, I will spew you out of my mouth. You can build your filthy world without me. I took the father. Now I'll take the son..."

*shivers* Bill scares me more then Jack

I find it a little sad to kinda "kill the myth", for nothing :dunno:
