I think most of us are aware that this thread is mostly aimed for those who's first language is English, not those who are trying to learn it. If English is your first language, then please try to speak/write/type it correctly. Not just here, but in general. It will help you in life. The term "grammar nazi" is just an excuse/lame insult for lazy people to hide behind when they don't want to be corrected. The words you use, and the way you say them, say a lot about you and affects the strength of the point you're trying to make. Nobody's perfect and we all make mistakes, but you can usually tell the difference between an error and someone who just doesn't know - or doesn't care, which is worse.

Yes, it was aimed at those of us who speak English as our native language. I hope that it has acted as a learning tool for those members that have other languages as their native tongue.

Seriously...you need to go to counseling You made a thread about this? The ones who repeatedly make this mistake because they don't know the difference wouldn't spend the time to read this anyway LOL I know I do it every once in a while but just because I'm typing too fast. I like the ones that can't figure out too, to, and two. Makes me feel superior :elaugh:

I see no reason for not pointing out these common mistakes, I hope that some people may learn by it.
And, yes, they do get to me. I read a lot and it just jars when the spelling is wrong. Yes, I can understand it most of the time and we all make genuine mistakes (yes, even me :eek), but there is no excuse for it if you know how to use the language properly, and if you have been to school, these simple rules should have been taught and learned. I feel that bad spelling is just lazy (most browsers these days have spell checks built in), but using the incorrect word (consistently) is just wrong.

I think they should treat it the same as political incorrectness,and guilty culprits should be put on some kind of register Then instead of communtiy
