What the hell?? STD misspoke or was joking (I hope) in misidentifying Africa as a country not a continent.

Most of us understand he made a mistake but why the fuck is BDG compounding it by suggesting there is some other way of looking at the statement than a mistake or joke on STD's part???

If it wasn't a joke then the only response is, "oops, I meant the continent of Africa.."

What does needing to name every country on the continent have to do with it??

Some of you Americans really need to stop leeching off of what your grandfathers did in WWII. It's their accomplishment, not yours. You didn't do jack shit so stop trying to take credit for it. My grandfather was in the Dutch resistance but I don't go around telling other Dutch people they should thank me for what he did. It dishonours him and everyone else who fought and died during WWII.

I am lucky to have served in peace time. I have not tried to take credit for anything. I am talking about America, not me. I am very proud of my grandfathers' service an have done nothing to dishonor them. I am also proud of your's.

Good point. He's making it sound as if the European's did no fighting at all. Alot of people made sacrifices not just the Americans.

I lived in another counrty for 6 years and it made me grateful about how great the USA is. Yeah the US is far from perfect but so is every other country in the world. Everywhere has their good and bad points you just gotta make the best of where you are at!

Well considering that millions of Asians from South Korea to Japan to china are begging to come to America shores every year, I'd say the U.S is pretty attractive to live in

One thing I hear consistently from people (both on and off this forum) is how bad America is. I grew up in a small town where racism was non-existent and still is.
I have beliefs that the sun will always shine at the end of the day. But I always hear of people complaining of almost anything U.S. policy related. Yes, we have problems but this is nothing new for any country no matter what its age. I would love to see these same people who complain go live in Korea, China, and Canada .

I gotta say, I am proud to live in this country. I will take the bad with the good. No country is perfect (except Middle Earth). I won't follow it blindly but that's what this country was founded on, the ability to disagree with management (no matter how unlikely that ability may seem now, it's still there)

I'm as proud to live in this country, as any other loyal American. I think it still has greatness left in it, but sadly has stumbled. The country and the Government are not to blame...but the leadership is! Our way of Government is still the greatest in the world, but the politicians that run it, have abused the system, served their own selfish needs, and made a career out of getting fat on the taxes of hard working people, with little to no regard for the consequences of there actions, or the end result to the people...or more likely, to achieve the result they have. I feel there is a glimmer of hope left, if the people of this country stop passing the buck, and expecting the other guy to write a letter, or cast a vote. Groups like the Tea Party started out as a great idea, but unfortunately, were taken over by yet another fringe group. The Ron Paul's of this country could go a long way to putting her back on track...but voting for anything or anybody that doesn't conform to what the mainstream media tells you, is considered a wasted vote. No one seems to realize that, if everyone that wanted to vote Libertarian, or out of the main stream, but choose not to out of fear of wasting their vote, actually voted that way, the right candidates for the job, might get elected, or at least send a clear message to those in power that are destroying our freedoms and liberties.

If anyone read my previous thread y'all know what I think about it.
That fact is the U.S. is obsessed with race and many believe in myths (no, I won't go there this time).

The impression of the U.S. where I'm from is their generally quite arrogant. Someone said here how Africa isn't a continent...yeah it ain't, but you know what? Nor is America. When ever America is mentioned everyone assumes it's the U.S. instead we use "South America" or "North America" making the point how the U.S. is in the center...more like the center of the Universe...

And what's with American sports and how virtually no one else outside of the U.S. plays them...Baseball? NFL? (and what's with calling the NFL football...they hardly use their feet) NHL? and they're about the only nation to refer to the world's best sport as...Soccer? WTF? Where did they get that word from anyway?

My personal impression is that they don't consider football as "masculine" and therefore reserve it for the women, which is why the U.S. Womens team is so good...they should try playing rugby btw.

Then there's the obsession with large dicks...at least in the porn industry and there's the misprounciation of the English language...then theres the death penalty, the fact WW II didn't interest them until Pearl Harbor...the war "on terrorism", refering the Barrack Obama as "black" when he's mixed-race, the obession with the gun, the fact you have to pay to go to college and pay for health treatment, the obsession with fast food, the fact that they love the sound of their own voices, the fact that all their films must have a "happy ending"....and that's all I can think of at the moment.

Oh and the "cuckold".
