And to address another one of your comments (or insinuations) I don't assume that just because someone looks at porn that they are automatically scrungy or uneducated on how to address others in a public gathering either.
I appreciate Freeones' attempt to keep this place polite, friendly, and for encouraging cordial behavior. Of course, this will impede on what is acceptable and what isn't, and on what you can and cannot say.
This relates directly to society. We have laws that are enforced (most of the time) in the interest of the greater good. Look at any place that does not have laws, or that simply cannot enforce them. These places are chaotic, technologically backwards, have higher crime rates (although most of it doesn't even get reported), are less educated, and have a lower standard of living. These people are worse off even though they have total freedom.
People need guidance and boundaries. It's like potting a plant. For some species, if you use a crock that is too big before the plant has had time to grow, there is a good chance that it will end up dying. It needs to be able to handle the space it is in before being allowed to expand, and move to a larger pot. This relates to some of the members here. A lot of the older members here get away with more and have a larger expressive boundary that is earned through the respect and acceptance of others.
Now if you were in a bar you could probably say whatever you wanted to whomever you wanted. Right? Sure! You'd get a knuckle sandwich and end up walking home carrying your teeth in your hand. On a public board, this is not possible. Instead of a few quick slaps, you end up getting thread after thread ruined by two people that keep arguing back and forth because typing an argument takes a lot longer than talking, and talking takes even longer than fighting.
This is why Freeones needs to enforce guidelines. I don't think this board would be as attractive to posters if it were as childish and hostile as some of the others out there. That could be why this is probably the biggest and best porn message board on the net. But being the best comes with it's price. You can't fart and curse in a fancy expensive restaurant, but you can in Uncle Ed's BurgerShack. Get my drift? (not a pun :1orglaugh )
